Clustered mutations in HIV-1 gag are consistently required for escape from HLA-B27-restricted cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses [PDF]
The immune response to HIV-1 in patients who carry human histocompatibility leukocyte antigen (HLA)-B27 is characterized by an immunodominant response to an epitope in p24 gag (amino acids 263-272, KR WIILGLNK).

Alemtuzumab-induced thyroid eye disease successfully treated with a single low dose of rituximab
Introduction: Secondary thyroid autoimmunity, especially Graves’ disease (GD), frequently develops in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) following alemtuzumab treatment (ALTZ; anti-CD52). Thyroid eye disease (TED) can also develop, and rituximab (RTX;

Local FLASH radiation exhibits a double-edged effect on the mouse immune system. [PDF]
Purpose/objective(s) This study aims to investigate the impact of partial blood volume FLASH irradiation on immune system in a mouse leg model. Materials/methods The right hind limbs of C57BL/6 N mice were irradiated in a single fraction with an electron

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) repeatedly receive therapies that cause B-lymphocyte depletion. This may lead to abnormal immune responses following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination, as has been suggested previously.
