Mathematical modeling of antigenicity for HIV dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesMathS In Action 3, 1 (2010) 1-35, 2008
This contribution is devoted to a new model of HIV multiplication motivated by the patent of one of the authors. We take into account the antigenic diversity through what we define "antigenicity", whether of the virus or of the adapted lymphocytes. We model the interaction of the immune system and the viral strains by two processes.

Adoptive transfer of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in melanoma: a viable treatment option

open access: yesJournal of Immunotherapy for Cancer, 2018
The treatment of metastatic melanoma patients with autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) shows robust, reproducible, clinical responses in clinical trials executed in several specialized centers over the world.

The clinical significance of tumor infiltrating lymphoctyes in breast cancer: does subtype matter?

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2012
Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are commonly detected in breast tumors but their bearing on disease outcome is uncertain. The importance of TILs appears to be subtype-specific and varies depending on the histologic characteristics of the tumor.

Functional Heterogeneity of CD4+ Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes With a Resident Memory Phenotype in NSCLC

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Resident memory T cells (TRM) inhabit peripheral tissues and are critical for protection against localized infections. Recently, it has become evident that CD103+ TRM are not only important in combating secondary infections, but also for the elimination ...

Accurate Transcription Factor Activity Inference to Decipher Cell Identity from Single‐Cell Transcriptomic Data with MetaTF

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
MetaTF is a new computational framework that uses single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) data to infer transcription factor activity with the aim to help in deciphering cells identity starting from a heterogeneous population, and apply it to characterize mouse hematopoietic stem cells and breast cancer epithelial cells, thus identifying a novel subset ...

Tumor Microenvironment in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Focus on Tumor-Infiltrating Lymphocytes

open access: yesAsian Pacific Journal of Cancer Biology, 2019
For more progress in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) immuno-oncology, further understanding of interactions between tumor and immune system as well as factors in the tumor microenvironment is required.

Inhibition of RACK1‐Mediated NLRP3 Oligomerization (Active Conformation) Ameliorates Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram showing the potential mechanism of bigelovin on the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome Bigelovin may inhibit activated protein C kinase 1 (RACK1) by directly binding with cys168 of RACK1. Bigelovin thus prevents oligomerization of NLRP3 (NLRP3 active conformation) and subsequent assembly of NLRP3 inflammasome, blocking the activation of

Dynamical System Modeling Of Immune Reconstitution Following Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation Identifies Patients At Risk For Adverse Outcomes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Systems that evolve over time and follow mathematical laws as they do so, are called dynamical systems. Lymphocyte recovery and clinical outcomes in 41 allograft recipients conditioned using anti-thymocyte globulin (ATG) and 4.5 Gray total-body-irradiation were studied to determine if immune reconstitution could be described as a dynamical system ...

HIC1 suppresses Tumor Progression and Enhances CD8+ T Cells Infiltration Through Promoting GSDMD‐induced Pyroptosis in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings elucidate the innovative role of HIC1 as a transcriptional activator in GC, driving the initiation of pyroptosis and enhancing CD8+ T cell infiltration, which has certain novelty and creative significance. Collectively, targeting HIC1 can present an appealing immunotherapeutic strategy to improve outcomes in GC patients.
