When d-amino acid oxidase (d-amino acid:O2 oxidoreductase (deaminating), EC 1.4.3.3) is treated with NaBH4 during the enzymatic reaction, the carbon moiety resulting from the deamination of the substrate is bound to the e-NH2 of lysine residues of the enzyme. The isolation of several peptides containing these “reactive” lysine residues is described.
