Rapid cell lysis and DNA capture in a lysis microreactor
Abstract In clinical diagnostics, the detection and identification of bacterial organisms based on the analysis of their nucleic acids require cell lysis and DNA extraction from clinical samples. A lysis microreactor (LMR) has been developed to perform these tasks with high efficiency and in processing times of approximately 5–10 min.

ABSTRACTWe have been witnessing an increased interest in bacteriophage studies focused on their use as antibacterial agents to fight pathogenic bacteria. This interest is a consequence of the phages' ability to lyse a bacterial host. Until recently, little was known about the mechanisms used by mycobacteriophages to induce lysis of their complex hosts.

COMPLEMENT-MEDIATED ADIPOCYTE LYSIS BY NEPHRITIC FACTOR SERA [PDF]
Recent data indicate a previously unsuspected link between the complement system and adipocyte biology. Murine adipocytes produce key components of the alternative pathway of complement and are able to activate this pathway.

As our population ages and the rate of spine surgery continues to rise, the use epidural lysis of adhesions (LOA) has emerged as a popular treatment to treat spinal stenosis and failed back surgery syndrome. There is moderate evidence that percutaneous LOA is more effective than conventional ESI for both failed back surgery syndrome, spinal stenosis ...

VP3 Phage Combined with High Salt Promotes the Lysis of Biofilm-Associated Vibrio cholerae
Cholera, caused by pathogenic Vibrio cholerae, poses a significant public health risk through water and food transmission. Biofilm-associated V. cholerae plays a crucial role in seasonal cholera outbreaks as both a reservoir in aquatic environments and a

Virus-host interactions shape viral dispersal giving rise to distinct classes of travelling waves in spatial expansions [PDF]
Reaction-diffusion waves have long been used to describe the growth and spread of populations undergoing a spatial range expansion. Such waves are generally classed as either pulled, where the dynamics are driven by the very tip of the front and stochastic fluctuations are high, or pushed, where cooperation in growth or dispersal results in a bulk ...
