CO-FREE Alternative Test Products for Copper Reduction in Agriculture [PDF]
The project CO-FREE (2012-2016) aimed to develop strategies to replace/reduce copper use in organic, integrated and conventional farming. CO-FREE alternative test products (CTPs) were tested and integrated together with decision support systems, disease ...

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Plants assemble beneficial rhizosphere microbiomes through a ‘cry for help’ mechanism upon pathogen or insect herbivore attack. The arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can influence the composition of microbial communities in the plant rhizosphere. However, their impacts

This study indicated that biocontrol bacterium B. subtilis R31 is likely to prevent and control banana Fusarium wilt through regulating the structure and function of banana rhizosphere microorganism flora (especially increasing the microbial abundance of Actinomyces), and help potential biocontrol bacteria grow into the plant roots.

Preliminary Study on Keratinase From Two Indonesian Isolates [PDF]
Keratinases (E.C.3.4.99.11) constitute a group of enzymes capable of disrupting the highly stable keratin structure consisting of disulphide, hydrogen, and hydrophobic bonds in the form of α-helices and β-sheets B. licheniformis MB-2 and Bacillus sp. MTS

Decoding the genetic and functional diversity of the DSF Quorum-Sensing system in Stenotrophomonas maltophilia [PDF]
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia uses the Diffusible Signal Factor (DSF) quorum sensing (QS) system to mediate intra- and inter-specific signaling and regulate virulence-related processes.

How do drying and rewetting events affect nutrient fluxes and bacteria dynamics in subtropical estuarine sediments? [PDF]
Drying and rewetting occur frequently in coastal marsh sediments due to oscillations of rising and falling tides, and episodic droughts and floods. Similarly, drying events also occur within freshwater systems due to changing precipitation patterns ...

This study explores the structural heterogeneity and evolutionary adaptations of heteromultimeric bacterioferritins. Hetero‐Bfrs, evolved from either a homo‐Bfr or Ftn by gene duplications, differ from homo‐Bfrs substantially in the mechanisms underpinning iron oxidation and reduction despite high similarity in overall structure.

Lysobacter terricola sp. nov., isolated from greenhouse soil
Strain 5GH22-11T, which was isolated from greenhouse soil in the Yangpyeong region, Gyeonggi province, Republic of Korea, was characterized to be an aerobic, Gram-stain-negative, flagellated, rod-shaped bacterium. It could grow at temperatures from 10 to 33 °C (optimum of 28-30 °C), in the pH range of 6.0-10.0 (optimum of pH 7.0) and without NaCl.
