Proteome Analysis of Corynebacterium diphtheriae–Macrophage Interaction

open access: yesPROTEOMICS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Contact of Corynebacterium diphtheriae with macrophages induces adaptations on both bacterial and cellular sides. The study presented here was aiming to shed light on the simultaneous intracellular adaptation of the bacteria and changes in the proteome of the phagocytes in response to the internalization of C. diphtheriae.

Programmable Protein‐DNA Composite Nanostructures: from Nanostructure Construction to Protein‐Induced Micro‐Scale Material Self‐Assembly and Functionalization

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents a modular platform that integrates engineered proteins with DNA nanostructures to create dynamic, multifunctional materials. By combining orthogonal protein‐protein and protein‐DNA conjugation strategies, the authors demonstrate controlled self‐assembly into nanofibers and nanorods, along with reversible enzyme activation.

Noise-based switches and amplifiers for gene expression

open access: yes, 2000
The regulation of cellular function is often controlled at the level of gene transcription. Such genetic regulation usually consists of interacting networks, whereby gene products from a single network can act to control their own expression or the ...

Lysogeny and Colicinogeny in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1961
SUMMARY: One hundred and eighty-three strains of Escherichia coli were examined for lysogeny and colicinogeny: 40.4 % were neither lysogenic nor colicinogenic; 31.1 % were only colicinogenic; 13.1% were only lysogenic; 15.2% were lysogenic and colicinogenic.

Lytic Transglycosylase Deficiency Increases Susceptibility to β‐lactam Antibiotics But Reduces Susceptibility to Vancomycin in Escherichia coli

open access: yesMicrobiology and Immunology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In Staphylococcus aureus, a gram‐positive pathogen, vancomycin‐resistant strains become susceptible to β‐lactam antibiotics, referred to as the “seesaw effect.” However, in gram‐negative bacteria, the phenomenon is less clear. Here, we analyzed the gene‐knockout effects of eight lytic transglycosylases (slt, mltA, mltB, mltC, mltD, mltE, mltF,

Mechanisms of Antiphage Defense in Prokaryotes

open access: yesАнтибиотики и Химиотерапия
The globalization of the problem of the formation of bacterial strains poly- and pan-resistant to known antimicrobial drugs creates high risks in the healthcare sector.

The prevalence and impact of lysogeny among oral isolates of Enterococcus faecalis

open access: yesJournal of Oral Microbiology, 2019
Bacterial phenotypic properties are frequently influenced by the uptake of extrachromosomal genetic elements, such as plasmids and bacteriophage genomes.

An Innovative Binding‐Protein‐Based dsRNA Extraction Method: Comparison of Cost‐Effectiveness of Virus Detection Methods Using High‐Throughput Sequencing

open access: yesMolecular Ecology Resources, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Viral diseases represent a threat to global food production. Managing the impact of viruses on crop production requires the ability to monitor viruses, study their ecology and anticipate outbreaks. Double‐stranded RNA (dsRNA) sequencing is a well‐established and reliable method of detecting viruses and studying virome‐host interactions and ...
