Fibrilpaint: A Class of Amyloid‐Targeting Peptides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
FibrilPaints are modular peptides engineered to recognize amyloid fibrils. By systematically varying charge, sequence, and termini, their binding behavior can be tuned while retaining recognition. Successful binding ″paints″ fibrils for visualization and opens routes toward targeted degradation and diagnostic applications.

Chemical engineering as an essential element of industrial biotechnology in Mexico: New aims in research and university education

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract On the centennial of higher education in Chemical Engineering in Mexico, it is pertinent to revisit the key stages that have contributed to its consolidation as a vital discipline for the nation's scientific and technological advancement. Although the initial mission of chemical engineering education was primarily oriented toward the training ...

Characterization of Lysosomal Hydrolases and Transporters and Their Age‐Dependent Variability: Relevance to Drug Metabolism and Transport of Small Molecule and Biologic Drugs

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Lysosomes play a key role in the accumulation, catabolism, and transport of endogenous and exogenous metabolites and proteins and are involved in drug metabolism and prodrug activation. However, the protein abundance and interindividual variability of lysosomal drug‐metabolizing enzymes and transporters (DMETs) remain underexplored.

Transcriptomic Profiling of SLC and ABC Transporters in the Human Term Placenta

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Solute carriers (SLC) and ATP‐binding cassette (ABC) transporters are essential for placental solute exchange and fetal protection, yet their transcriptomic profiles in the human placenta remain poorly characterized. Although fetal sex influences placental development and function, its impact on transporter expression is unclear.

From Biological Mechanisms to Causal Inference: Quantitative Systems Pharmacology and Causal Frameworks in Drug Development

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Digital patients and in silico clinical trials offer new opportunities to advance pharmacological research, clinical development, and regulatory decision‐making by enabling the simulation of treatment effects prior to testing in patients. Among the most promising of these opportunities is the combined use of quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) and ...

Membrane lipid metabolism as a regulatory frontier in neural crest biology: Roles for sphingolipids, cholesterol, and lipid rafts

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Neural crest cells are multipotent, migratory stem‐like cells essential for vertebrate development that contribute broadly to many tissues including the craniofacial skeleton, peripheral nervous system, and pigment‐producing cells. Their development progresses through phases of induction, specification, delamination, migration, and ...

Selective N‐Functionalization of Pyrazoles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
This review traces the evolution of regioselective N‐functionalization strategies for pyrazoles, a key class of nitrogen heterocycles widely used in medicinal chemistry. Due to rapid tautomerism, N‐functionalization often lacks selectivity, leading to poor and unpredictable regioisomeric outcomes.

Inherited metabolic epilepsies–established diseases, new approaches

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Inherited metabolic epilepsies (IMEs) represent the inherited metabolic disorders (IMDs) in which epilepsy is a prevailing component, often determining other neurodevelopmental outcomes associated with the disorder. The different metabolic pathways affected by individual IMEs are the basis of their rarity and heterogeneity.
