The matrix pencil (A,B) = {tB-A | t \in C} is considered under the assumptions that A is entrywise nonnegative and B-A is a nonsingular M-matrix. As t varies in [0,1], the Z-matrices tB-A are partitioned into the sets L_s introduced by Fiedler and ...

Zero modes' fusion ring and braid group representations for the extended chiral su(2) WZNW model [PDF]
The zero modes' Fock space for the extended chiral $su(2)$ WZNW model gives room to a realization of the Grothendieck fusion ring of representations of the restricted $U_q sl(2)$ quantum universal enveloping algebra (QUEA) at an even ($2h$-th) root of ...

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

A Graph Classification Method Based on Support Vector Machines and Locality-Sensitive Hashing
Graphs classification is a relevant problem that arises in many disciplines. Using graphs directly instead of vectorization allows exploiting the intrinsic representations of the data.

Confinement/deconfinement transition in the D0-brane matrix model — A signature of M-theory?
We study the confinement/deconfinement transition in the D0-brane matrix model (often called the BFSS matrix model) and its one-parameter deformation (the BMN matrix model) numerically by lattice Monte Carlo simulations.

Power dissipation for systems with junctions of multiple quantum wires [PDF]
We study power dissipation for systems of multiple quantum wires meeting at a junction, in terms of a current splitting matrix (M) describing the junction.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

We prove operator-norm resolvent convergence estimates for one-dimensional periodic differential operators with rapidly oscillating coefficients in the non-uniformly elliptic high-contrast setting, which has been out of reach of the existing ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

M-matrix characterizations.I—nonsingular M-matrices
AbstractThe purpose of this survey is to classify systematically a widely ranging list of characterizations of nonsingular M-matrices from the economics and mathematics literatures. These characterizations are grouped together in terms of their relations to the properties of (1) positivity of principal minors, (2) inverse-positivity and splittings, (3)
