Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Novel micro-scale specimens for mode-dependent fracture testing of brittle materials: A case study on GaAs single crystals

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
To study microscale fracture behavior under mode II and mode III loading new sample geometries are proposed. Finite element simulations were carried out to determine the mode I, II and III stress intensity factor distributions over the sample width as ...

Diaphragmatic excursion studied by M-Mode ultrasonography in singers. A preliminary study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Ultrasound scan is an image instrument that allows the assessment of diaphragmatic function and it does not have any side effects for patients. We have not found any literature about the use of M-mode ultrasonography to assess the diaphragmatic movement ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

SMEs entry mode decision making process: Rational or cybernetic? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Entry mode choice is a critical decision when a firm expends its business to foreign markets. By applying rational and cybernetic strategies to international strategic decision-making process, this paper investigates how small and medium sized firms ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

M-mode photoacoustic particle flow imaging [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2009
Recently, there has been growing interest in the development of photoacoustic flow measuring methods aimed to study microvascular blood flow in biological tissue. Here, we describe the M-mode photoacoustic particle flow imaging, using an optical resolution photoacoustic microscope equipped with a high-repetition-rate pulsed dye laser.

1.06 µm picosecond pulsed, normal dispersion pumping for generating efficient broadband infrared supercontinuum in meter-length single-mode tellurite holey fiber with high Raman gain coefficient

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate efficient broadband infrared supercontinuum generation in meter-length single-mode small-core tellurite holey fiber. The fiber is pumped by 1.06µm picosecond pulses in the normal dispersion region.
