Bosonic M theory

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Physics, 2001
We conjecture that there exists a strong coupling limit of bosonic string theory which is related to the 26 dimensional theory in the same way that 11 dimensional M theory is related to superstring theory. More precisely, we believe that bosonic string theory is the compactification on a line interval of a 27 dimensional theory whose low-energy limit ...

M-theory and the Birth of the Universe [PDF]

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica B, 2021
In this review article, we first discuss a possible regularization of the big bang curvature singularity of the standard Friedmann cosmology, where the curvature singularity is replaced by a spacetime defect. We then consider the hypothesis that a new physics phase gave rise to this particular spacetime defect.

Large superconformal near-horizons from M-theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We report on a classification of supersymmetric solutions to 11D supergravity with $SO(2,2) \times SO(3)$ isometry, which are AdS/CFT dual to 2D CFTs with $\mathcal{N} = (0,4)$ supersymmetry.

Orbifolds of M-Theory and String Theory [PDF]

open access: yesMod.Phys.Lett.A11:1339-1348,1996, 1996
It is shown that many of the conjectured dualities involving orbifold compactification of M-theory follow from the known dualities involving M-theory and string theory in ten dimensions, and the ansatz that orbifolding procedure commutes with the duality transformation.

In the woods of M-theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2001
We study BPS states which arise in compactifications of M-theory on Calabi-Yau manifolds. In particular, we are interested in the spectrum of the particles obtained by wrapping M2-brane on a two-cycle in the CY manifold X. We compute the Euler characteristics of the moduli space of genus zero curves which land in a holomorphic four-cycle $S \subset X$.

Progress in M-Theory [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2001
After reviewing how M‐theory subsumes string theory, we report on some new and interesting developments, focusing on the “brane‐world”.

N = 1 Field Theory Duality from M-theory [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D57:6455-6463,1998, 1997
We investigate Seiberg's N=1 field theory duality for four-dimensional supersymmetric QCD with the M-theory 5-brane. We find that the M-theory configuration for the magnetic dual theory arises via a smooth deformation of the M-theory configuration for the electric theory.

Probing M-theory with tetrahedron instantons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
The duality between type IIA superstring theory and M-theory enables us to lift bound states of D0-branes and n parallel D6-branes to M-theory compactified on an n-centered multi-Taub-NUT space TN $$ \mathbbm{TN} $$ n .

Stringy corrections to a time-dependent background solution of string and M-Theory [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D75:126004,2007, 2007
We consider one of the simplest time-dependent backgrounds in M-theory, describing the shrinking away of the M-theory dimension with the other spatial dimensions static. As the M-theory dimension becomes small, the situation becomes well-described by string theory in a singular cosmological background where the string coupling tends to zero but the ...
