Distribution and motion of CO in M31 [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1985
M31 is among the few galaxies whose solid angle is more than 100 times the beam area of currently operational millimeter-wave telescopes. Roughly 10% of its area has been mapped in the J=1→0 line of CO with the 7-m telescope at Bell Laboratories. The data lie on the major and minor axes and in a filled 20′ by 15′ field.

Electro‐Active Polymer Actuated Microfiltration Membranes: Design, Performance, and Particle Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 21, 12 March 2026.
The concept of foulant particle manipulation and detachment from active microfiltration membranes via voltage‐driven vibrations is introduced. Actuator components are initially integrated onto the filtration membranes using an airbrush spray printing technique.

Direct DEBs in M31 and M33 [PDF]

open access: yesHighlights of Astronomy, 2004
The DIRECT project (as in “direct distances”) started in 1996 with the long-term goal of obtaining distances to two important galaxies in the cosmological distance ladder – M31 and M33 – using detached eclipsing binaries (DEBs) and Cepheids. These two nearby galaxies are the stepping stones in most of the current effort to understand the evolving ...

Chandra Observations of M31 [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2001
As part of the Chandra GTO program we are monitoring and surveying M31 using the HRC and ACIS cameras. These observations have resolved the nuclear X-ray source into five separate sources, one of which is very soft and may (or may not!) be associated with the central super-massive black hole.

HST Proper Motions of Andromeda V and Andromeda VI

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We measure the absolute proper motions of Andromeda V (And V) and Andromeda VI/Pegasus (And VI) dwarf galaxies, satellites of M31 located near its galactic plane.

An XMM-Newton View of the Andromeda Galaxy as Explored in a Legacy Survey (New-ANGELS). I. The X-Ray Source Catalog

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2023
We introduce the New-ANGELS program, an XMM-Newton survey of a ∼7.2 deg ^2 area around M31, which aims to study the X-ray populations in the M31 disk and the X-ray-emitting hot gas in the inner halo of M31 up to 30 kpc. In this first paper, we report the

Poly(vinylidene Fluoride)‐Based Ferroelectric Polymers for Electromechanical Transduction: A Systematic Review of Materials and Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2026.
Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF)‐based ferroelectric materials exhibit high strains, energy densities and coupling efficiencies, appealing for diverse applications requiring smart material actuators. This work reviews electromechanical transduction in PVDF‐based polymers and their modifications, implementation in actuators, and functional devices ...

The Globular Cluster System of M31 [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 2002
This review presents the current status of our knowledge of M31 star clusters. Given the broadness of the subject, I chose to focus on some of its aspects which are not covered by the other participants in this conference.

Elemental Abundances in M31: [Fe/H] and [α/Fe] in M31 Dwarf Galaxies Using Coadded Spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
We present chemical abundances of red giant branch (RGB) stars in the dwarf spheroidal (dSph) satellite system of Andromeda (M31), using spectral synthesis of medium-resolution (R ~ 6000) spectra obtained with the Keck II telescope and Deep Imaging Multi-

Destination recovery during COVID-19 in an emerging economy: Insights from Perú

open access: yesEuropean Research on Management and Business Economics, 2022
The onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a critical impact on the travel and tourism sector. Tourist destinations in developing countries are even more susceptible to negative trends of this sort due to the importance of tourism in emerging ...
