Survey of planetary nebulae in Andromeda (M31) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Andromeda (M31) is the nearest giant spiral galaxy to our Milky Way (MW) and the most massive member of our Local Group, with its diffuse halo spanning over 100 sq. deg. on the sky.

Constraints on the Formation of M31’s Stellar Halo from the SPLASH Survey

open access: yesGalaxies, 2017
The SPLASH (Spectroscopic and Photometric Landscape of Andromeda’s Stellar Halo) Survey has observed fields throughout M31’s stellar halo, dwarf satellites, and stellar disk.

Searching for New Globular Clusters in M31 with Gaia EDR3

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We have found 50 new globular cluster (GC) candidates around M31 with Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3), with the help of Pan-STARRS1 DR1 magnitudes and Pan-Andromeda Archaeological Survey (PAndAS) images.

Cepheids in M31: The PAndromeda Cepheid Sample [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2018
Abstract We present the largest Cepheid sample in M31 based on the complete Pan-STARRS1 survey of Andromeda (PAndromeda) in the r P1, i P1, and g P1 bands. We find 2686 Cepheids with 1662 fundamental-mode Cepheids, 307 first-overtone Cepheids, 278 type II Cepheids, and 439 Cepheids ...

DESI Observations of the Andromeda Galaxy: Revealing the Immigration History of Our Nearest Neighbor

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We present Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) observations of the inner halo of M31, which reveal the kinematics of a recent merger—a galactic immigration event—in exquisite detail.

An Interpretable Deep Learning Model for Detecting Tropical Cyclone Genesis Through Incorporation of the Dynamic and Thermodynamic Environment

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Machine Learning and Computation, Volume 3, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract In recent decades, tropical cyclone (TC) track forecasting has improved significantly. However, prediction of TC genesis (TCG) remains challenging. Accurate prediction of TCG is critical for disaster prevention and mitigation. This study develops an interpretable deep learning model that integrates 3D‐residual blocks with gated recurrent units

Semiautomated classification of units in volcanic terrain based on three morphometric attributes derived from a digital elevation model (DEM)

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 51, Issue 5, May 2026.
The proposed method better responds to the needs of detailed cartography improving the working scale (local and regional) representation; also roughness attributes facilitate the identification of geomorphological units, and the DEM generation method enhances terrain representation.

The Spatial and Emission Properties of the Large [O iii] Emission Nebula Near M31

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Drechsler et al. reported the unexpected discovery of a 1.°5 long [O iii ] emission nebula 1.°2 southeast of the M31 nucleus. Here we present additional images of this large emission arc, called the Strottner–Drechsler–Sainty Object (SDSO), along with ...

Lymphocyte Antigen 6G Mediates Vagotomy‐Associated Reduction in Body Weight

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 7, 15 April 2026.
Vagotomy was associated with lower body weight and epididymal white adipose tissue (eWAT) mass, as well as increased Ly6G+ cell infiltration in eWAT. This vagotomy‐associated weight loss was significantly attenuated in neutrophil‐deficient mice, suggesting Ly6G+ cells participate in the regulation of eWAT energy homeostasis.
