The Whirlpool Galaxy (M 51) and Companion Galaxy [PDF]
This Hubble Space Telescope image shows the stellar fireworks seen in the core of the Whirlpool Galaxy, also known as M51. The back of this image describes the history of how astronomers have viewed this galaxy over the last 150 years.

Subarcsecond-resolution Imaging of M51 with the International LOFAR Telescope
We present an International LOFAR Telescope (ILT) subarcsecond-resolution image of the nearby galaxy M51 with a beam size of 0.″436 × 0.″366 and rms of 46 μ Jy. We compare this image with a European VLBI Network study of M51 and discuss the supernovae in

Biosynthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Black Pepper (Piper nigrum) Seed Extract and Evaluation of Their Cytotoxicity. [PDF]
This study reports the green biosynthesis of piperine‐functionalized silver nanoparticles from Piper nigrum seed extract, followed by comprehensive physicochemical characterization and in vitro cytotoxic evaluation. The results confirm successful nanocomposite formation and demonstrate a marked enhancement of cytotoxic activity against gastric cancer ...

A Lack of Resolved Near-Infrared Polarization Across the Face of M51 [PDF]
The galaxy M51 was observed using the Mimir instrument on the Perkins telescope to constrain the resolved H-band (1.6 $\mu$m) polarization across the galaxy.

A Cloud-Scale View of the Molecular Gas Disk in the Whirlpool Galaxy and Beyond [PDF]
The nearby galaxy M51 (also known as the Whirlpool galaxy) hosts an iconic grand-design spiral pattern and both IRAM facilities conducted the first cloud-scale (∼50 pc resolution) survey of the molecular gas reservoir across a the disk of a massive star ...

Simulations of the grand design galaxy M51: a case study for analysing tidally induced spiral structure [PDF]
We present hydrodynamical models of the grand design spiral M51 (NGC 5194), and its interaction with its companion NGC 5195. Despite the simplicity of our models, our simulations capture the present day spiral structure of M51 remarkably well, and even ...

A catalogue of M51 type galaxy associations [PDF]
A catalog of 232 apparently interacting galaxy pairs of the M51 class is presented. Catalog members were identified from visual inspection of mult-band images in the IRSA archive. The major findings in the compilation of this catalog are (1) A surprisingly low number of the main galaxies in M51 systems are early type spirals and barred spirals.

Why tibial plateau fractures are overlooked
Background Tibial plateau fractures (TPFs) are sometimes overlooked in the emergency room (ER). Using a national register covering 18 years we aimed to find out why and to evaluate if use of a specific radiographic decision rule, Pittsburgh Knee Rules ...
