Laser Ablation Sampling With Low‐Power Plasma: A LA‐MIP‐MS Instrument for Spaceflight

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 3, 15 February 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Inductively coupled plasma (ICP) is a commonly used ion source for mass spectrometry‐based chemical analysis of a wide range of materials. Traditional ICP ion sources use high power (> 1000 W) and significant gas flow (> 10 L/min), rendering them unsuitable for spaceflight, as they are too resource‐intensive for planetary spacecraft.

Systematic Comparison of Homogeneous Catalyst Recycling Strategies: Organic Solvent Nanofiltration vs. Liquid‐Liquid‐Multiphase

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 6, 9 February 2026.
Key performance metrics, including hexene conversion rates and catalyst leaching, were evaluated over extended continuous operation periods. Results demonstrated that the OSN method significantly outperformed the multiphasic system, maintaining hexene conversion at 83% after 76 h compared to a decline to 72% in the multiphasic setup after 36 h ...

Comparative Study of Recovered Carbon Black Versus Conventional Carbon Black as a Reinforcing Filler in Isobutylene‐Isoprene Rubber

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 5, February 5, 2026.
Potential use of rCB in Butyl composites. rCB used as a filler in butyl composites reveals an opportunity to replace conventional CB. Characterization of morphology and surface characteristics of rCB supports marked differences in tensile strength, Shore A hardness.

Magnetic Dynamics and Elongated Coherence of a High‐Spin Mn(II) Qubit Doped Into a Metal‐Organic Framework

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
This study demonstrates that dilute Mn(II) (∼0.02 mol%) doped into the Zn(II)‐MOF [CH6N3][Zn(HCOO)3] act as high‐spin (S = 5/2) spin qubits, achieving microsecond phase memory times above 50 K—the first report for Mn(II)‐based systems. Robust hydrogen‐bonding networks suppress relaxation and stabilize the lattice, extending T2.
