A stepwise emergence of evolution in the RNA world

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
How did biological evolution emerge from chemical reactions? This perspective proposes a gradual scenario of self‐organization among RNA molecules, where catalytic feedback on random mixtures plays the central role. Short oligomers cross‐ligate, and self‐assembly enables heritable variations. An event of template‐externalization marks the transition to

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of LaB6/Ti-6Al-4V Composites Fabricated by Selective Laser Melting

open access: yesMetals, 2023
In this study, TiB + La2O3/Ti-6Al-4V composites were successfully prepared by in situ reaction using selective laser melting technology. The effect of LaB6 content on the fabrication quality, microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the ...

Machining of Fibre Reinforced Plastic Composite Materials

open access: yesMaterials, 2018
Fibre reinforced plastic composite materials are difficult to machine because of the anisotropy and inhomogeneity characterizing their microstructure and the abrasiveness of their reinforcement components.

Experimental research to Optimize Process Parameters in Machining of Non Conducting Material with hybrid non conconventional machining [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Among all non conventional micro machining, electrochemical discharge machining ECDM is having high quality of material removal rate with zero residual stress. This machining has been accepted as a highly modern technology in micromachining.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Trajectory planning method for improving alignment accuracy of probes for dual-robot air-coupled ultrasonic testing system

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2019
Composite workpieces, especially the complex-curved surfaces composite workpieces, have been increasingly used in different industries. Non-destructive testing of these parts has become an urgent problem to be addressed.

A Performance Survey on Stack-based and Register-based Virtual Machines [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Virtual machines have been widely adapted for high-level programming language implementations and for providing a degree of platform neutrality. As the overall use and adaptation of virtual machines grow, the overall performance of virtual machines has become a widely-discussed topic. In this paper, we present a survey on the performance differences of

Machine transliteration [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the eighth conference on European chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics -, 1997
It is challenging to translate names and technical terms across languages with different alphabets and sound inventories. These items are commonly transliterated, i.e., replaced with approximate phonetic equivalents. For example, "computer" in English comes out as "konpyuutaa" in Japanese.
