Comparative Analysis of Intermediate and Advanced Maillard Reaction Products in Three Types of Commercial Edible Mushroom Products

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent years, rising consumption of mushroom‐based foods has highlighted concerns over the formation of harmful Maillard reaction products (HMRPs) during thermal processing. However, limited information is available on the occurrence of intermediate and advanced HMRPs, such as α‐dicarbonyl compounds (α‐DCs) and advanced glycation end ...

Mycophagous behavior by small mammals observed through camera traps in a riparian forest fragment in Southwestern São Paulo, Brazil

open access: yesLilloa
Macrofungi play a crucial role in forest ecosystems by decomposing organic matter and influencing nutrient dynamics. They are characterized by the production of visible reproductive structures known as sporomes, commonly referred to as mushrooms ...

Anti‐Photoaging Effects and Potential Molecular Mechanisms of Ergothioneine‐Derived‐Ganoderma lucidum on UVB‐Irradiated Skin

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 2, March 2026.
Anti‐photoaging effects of Ganoderma lucidum‐derived ergothioneine in UVB‐irradiated HaCaT cells and skin photoaging mice. ABSTRACT The increasing incidence of skin photoaging associated with enhanced ultraviolet (UV) exposure highlights the need for effective preventive and therapeutic interventions.

Mycochemical Diversity and Therapeutic Potential of Hymenochaetoid Fungi from Central Asia: Regional and Global Perspectives

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 64, Issue 1, March 2026.
Central Asia harbors a rich yet understudied assemblage of wood‐inhabiting Hymenochaetoid fungi. This review delivers the first comprehensive synthesis of 43 poroid species representing 18 genera documented across montane forests, steppes, and xeric habitats.

Four Unrecorded Macrofungi from Mudeungsan National Park in Korea

open access: yes한국균학회지
Macrofungi are major decomposers in terrestrial ecosystems, acting as nutrient cyclers, wood decomposers, and plant symbionts. Despite their beneficial effects, the diversity of macrofungi is not as well understood as that of the flora and fauna ...

Macrofungi of the Bieszczady Mountains

open access: yesActa Mycologica, 2019
The Bieszczady Mts, a mountain range in SE Poland, is a hot spot of fungal richness and diversity in Poland. This paper summarizes 5 years of studies in the Bieszczady Mts, as well as previously published research. A total of 1,377 macromycetes taxa were found, including many (464) which were protected, red-listed, or very rare in Poland.

Prevalence of Red List DD Species Limits the Application of the EDGE Approach for Fungi

open access: yesConservation Letters, Volume 19, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite their importance, fungi remain underrepresented in global conservation priorities and largely absent from indicators established for monitoring progress within the Global Biodiversity Framework. One indicator, the Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered (EDGE) Index, tracks the conservation status of evolutionarily distinct ...
