Effect of chlorhexidine on Madin Darby canine kidney cells.
Molecular toxicology, 1989Sheets of MDCK cells were severely damaged by the commonly used antiseptic, chlorhexidine. Damage was indicated by changes in the characteristic blister formation normally observed in sheets of these cells growing on the base of culture flasks. Results are given for reduction in blister number with increasing chlorhexidine concentration.

Lipoxygenase inhibitor-induced apoptosis in Madin–Darby canine kidney cells
International Congress Series, 2002Abstract Both cyclooxygenase (COX) and lipoxygenase (LOX), as well as their metabolites, are suggested to play a dual role in regulating cell survival and apoptosis in various types of cells. However, their mechanism remains unclear. When Madin–Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells were treated with 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol β-acetate (TPA) and ...

Sample Preparation of Culture Medium from Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells
2008A reproducible, standardized and simple sample preparation methodology is the key to successful two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). This chapter describes step-by-step the sample preparation of culture medium from Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells. Tips and tricks are given to circumvent possible pitfalls.

Electrical properties of Madin-Darby canine kidney cells.
Federation proceedings, 1984Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells form monolayers with properties resembling natural transporting epithelia. In this paper we first summarize briefly information on the electrical properties of the whole monolayer and on the paracellular permeation route, and then concentrate on the electrical properties of the cells themselves as studied with ...

Localization of Carboxypeptidase O in Madin-Darby Canine Kidney Cells
2023Carboxypeptidases are enzymes that trim the carboxy-terminal ends of proteins. Carboxypeptidase O (CPO) is a recently discovered enzyme that was proposed to be associated with lipid droplets. Lipid droplets are organelles found in the cytosol of the cell that carry out different roles like storing metabolic energy and protein degradation.

The action of epinephrine on Madin-Darby canine kidney cells.
Federation proceedings, 1984We have used cultured monolayers of Madin-Darby canine kidney (MDCK) cells, which form epithelial layers of high transepithelial resistance, grown on Millipore filters, for transport studies. In the absence of hormones net ion transport is of small magnitude and is consistent with a net absorptive flow (apical to basal) of Na+.
