Abstract Fractals have been used for describing a wide range of natural processes. However, applications of fractal geometry to the study of magma mingling/mixing processes is almost completely lacking, in spite of the fact that such an approach could give new insights into the nature of magmatic interactions.

Abstract Quartz-monzodioritic and granodioritic enclaves occur in the Upper Cretaceous–Paleocene Dehno Complex, NW of Isfahan, Iran. They are hosted by hornblende-granodiorite and granodiorite–monzogranite, respectively. The presence of xenocrystic plagioclase, biotite, quartz, magnesio-hornblende, occasionally with relics of clinopyroxene (in quartz-

Magma mixing in the Sithonia Plutonic Complex, Greece: evidence from mafic microgranular enclaves
Mineralogy and Petrology, 2003¶Mafic microgranular enclaves occur in most calc-alkaline granitoids, and it is widely accepted that they represent the remnants of basic magmas that interacted with more acid magmas. In this work we present new data on mafic microgranular enclaves occurring in the granodiorites of the Sithonia Plutonic Complex (Northern Greece).

Magma mixing/mingling in Salmas granodiorite, NW Iran: evidence from mafic microgranular enclaves
Arabian Journal of Geosciences, 2014The interaction of mafic–intermediate and felsic rocks of the Salmas plutonic rocks produced mixed rocks (granodiorites) which contain mafic microgranular enclaves (MMEs). Enclaves ranging from a few millimeters to centimeters in size, and from ellipsoidal to rounded in shape.

Petrographic, geochemical and isotopic data are reported for the mafic microgranular enclaves occurring in a calc-alkaline Oligocene pluton outcropping near Xanthi town in northern Greece. The intrusion is composed of dominant granodiorites with minor tonalites and quartz diorites.

AbstractMagmatic microgranular enclaves (MMEs) are widely developed in the Shaocunwu granodiorite at the northeast margin of the eastern Jiangnan orogenic belt. Field geology showed that the MMEs occur as irregular ellipsoids near the edge of the intrusion, and consist of diorite, dominantly composed of amphibole, biotite, and plagioclase grains, with ...

Plagioclase phenocrysts from mafic enclaves and plagioclase from its host granite possess a pattern of complex zonation. A plagioclase phenocryst can generally be divided into three parts: an oscillatory, locally patchy zoned core (An47-19), a ring with dusty, more calcic plagioclase (An64-20) and a normally zoned rim composed of sodic plagioclase ...

Are mafic microgranular enclaves in durbachites plutonic equivalents of common minettes?
2013Durbachites are K-feldspar-phyric biotite-bearing MgO-rich rocks of syenitic composition whose formation involves the mixing of mafic high-potassium partial melts from an enriched mantle with granitic melts. Due to this process, durbachites encompass a broad compositional range and contain variable amounts of mafic microgranular enclaves (MME).

The paper presents original data on the inner structure, mineralogy, and geochemistry of the Late Paleozoic Burgasy quartz syenite massif in western Transbaikalia and mafic microgranular enclaves (MME) in its rocks. The composition of the mafic microgranular enclaves is close to that of phase-1 monzonitoids of this pluton, but the enclaves are not ...
