Scientific Highlights from Observations of Active Galactic Nuclei with the MAGIC Telescope

open access: yes, 2008
Since 2004, the MAGIC gamma-ray telescope has newly discovered 6 TeV blazars. The total set of 13 MAGIC-detected active galactic nuclei includes well-studied objects at other wavelengths like Markarian 501 and the giant radio galaxy M87, but also the ...

Ionic‐Electronic Hydrogel‐Liquid Metal Composite Bilayer with Tissue‐Adaptive and Adhesive Properties for Closed‐Loop Neuroprosthetic System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel–liquid metal composite peripheral nerve interface (HLB‐PNI) combines electrically durable electrodes and tissue‐adhesive hydrogel for tissue‐adaptive implantation. In nerve‐injured rats, it enables the diagnosis of sensory‐motor connectivity via stimulation and neural signal recording.

Counterion Dependent Side‐Chain Relaxation Stiffens a Chemically Doped Thienothiophene Copolymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Oxidation of a thienothiophene copolymer, p(g3TT‐T2), via different doping strategies and dopant molecules resulted in materials with similar oxidation levels and a high electrical conductivity of ≈100 S cm−1. However, mechanical properties varied significantly, with sub‐glass transition temperatures and elastic moduli spanning from –44°C to –3°C and ...

Magnetic sublevel independent magic wavelengths: Application in the Rb and Cs atoms

open access: yes, 2016
A generic scheme to trap atoms at the magic wavelengths ($\lambda_{\rm{magic}}$s) that are independent of vector and tensor components of the interactions of the atoms with the external electric field is presented.

Generative Adversarial Networks and Data Clustering for Likable Drone Design

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Novel applications for human-drone interaction demand new design approaches, such as social drones that need to be perceived as likable by users. However, given the complexity of the likability perception process, gathering such design information from ...

Electric Field‐Dependent Conductivity as Probe for Charge Carrier Delocalization and Morphology in Organic Semiconductors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Applying a high electric field to a doped organic semiconductor heats up the charge carrier distribution beyond the lattice temperature, enhancing conductivity. It is shown that the associated effective temperature can be used to extract the effective localization length, which is a characteristic length scale of charge transport and provides ...

Microfluidic Platform for Multiparametric Profiling of Fibrin Permeability, Fibrinolysis, and Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper introduces a single‐channel H‐junction microfluidic assay that profiles fibrin's evolving function in repair and thrombosis by measuring, in one ∼3 µL gel, permeability, fibrinolysis kinetics, fibroblast invasion, and clot extension in real time.

A novel synbiotic (SCM06) for anxiety and sensory hyperresponsiveness in children with autism spectrum disorder: an open-label pilot study

open access: yesnpj Biofilms and Microbiomes
Anxiety and sensory hyperresponsiveness are common in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), but effective treatments are lacking. Targeting the microbiota-gut-brain axis is a promising strategy.

Furan‐Substituted Phosphine‐Oxide as an Efficient Interfacial Modifier for Wide‐Bandgap Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report phosphine‐oxide interlayers for wide‐bandgap perovskite solar cells, in which tuned P = O Lewis basicity enables selective passivation of buried NiOx/perovskite interfaces and introduces interfacial dipoles that strengthen the built‐in field.
