Effect of Orotic Acid and Magnesium Orotate on the Development and Progression of the UM-X7.1 Hamster Hereditary Cardiomyopathy

Cardiovascular Drugs and Therapy, 1998
This study deals with the potential therapeutic effect of orotic acid (OA) and Mg Orotate (MgO) on myocardial degeneration and the development of congestive heart failure in cardiomyopathic (CM) hamsters of the UM-X7.1 line. Two major age groups (group I, < 30 days and group II, > 180 days old) were used in these experiments, which lasted 30 and 50 ...

Morphological aspects of the effects of orotic acid and magnesium orotate on hypercholesterolaemia in rabbits.

Arzneimittel-Forschung, 1995
Heart and blood vessel diseases are one of the leading causes of death, so their prevention and therapy are very important. In the present study the effects of magnesium chloride, magnesium orotate and orotic acid were tested. New Zealand rabbits were fed with enriched (2%) cholesterol diet during 112 days; starting with day 56 all rabbits were treated

Metabolic supplementation with orotic acid and magnesium orotate.

Cardiovascular drugs and therapy, 1999
Orotic acid (OA), a naturally occurring substance, is a key intermediate in the biosynthetic pathway of pyrimidines. Previous investigations in the heart suggest that orotate can protect recently infarcted hearts against a further ischemic stress and may be beneficial in certain types of experimental cardiomyopathy.

Magnesium orotate--experimental and clinical evidence.

Romanian journal of internal medicine = Revue roumaine de medecine interne, 2006
Magnesium orotate dihydrate (MO) has the sum formula C10H6MgN4O8 x 2H2O and a MG of 370.52. The salt is poorly soluble in water and hence does not bind gastric acid nor does it exhibit noteworthy laxative effects upon oral administration in contrast to easily dissociable Mg salts. As a source of magnesium (Mg), MO is indicated for the oral treatment of

Magnesium orotate in myocardial and neuronal protection.

Romanian journal of internal medicine = Revue roumaine de medecine interne, 2004
The nervous tissue and the myocardium have in common many denominators, such as: the inability to renew to substitute the severely damaged or dead cells, the role of the membrane electric activity, the presence of similar systems for antioxidation protection, which are obviously involved in pathologic events a.s.o. Aggressive factors mainly act by free

[Magnesium orotate in treatment of chronic hypertension in pregnant women].

Kardiologiia, 2013
We examined 150 pregnant women with essential hypertension (EHT), EHT and connective tissue dysplasia (CTD), and healthy. Presence of CTD aggravated clinical picture of EHT and was associated with pronounced cardialgic, neurological, asthenic, vertebrogenic, visceral, and other syndromes. The use of antihypertensive, metabolic (magnesium orotate) drugs,

Effects of magnesium orotate on rat heart function.

Cardioscience, 1994
Female Sprague-Dawley rats were given magnesium orotate (100 mg/kg/day) by gavage for 7 days. The effects on left ventricular, right ventricular, and circulatory function were measured using Millar ultraminiature catheter pressure transducers and thermodilution. In another series, rats were pretreated for 4 days with magnesium orotate.
