Magnetic confinement of the solar tachocline: The oblique dipole

open access: yes, 2011
International audience3D MHD global solar simulations coupling the turbulent convective zone and the radiative zone have been carried out. Essential features of the Sun such as differential rotation, meridional circulation and internal waves excitation ...

Magnetic-island induced geometric stabilization of turbulence triggering eITB bifurcation

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
We demonstrate that geometric deformation of flux-surface induced by a magnetic island can trigger the bifurcation to an electron internal transport barrier (eITB) through a novel positive feedback loop arising from the nonlinear coupling between the ...

Roles of magnetic helicity in plasma confinement. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1990
Principal properties of the magnetic helicity are reviewed with pointing out its basic roles in the fusion plasma theory. Approximate conservation of the total helicity in a toroidal plasma characterizes a typical MHD relaxation process which leads to a force-free plasma equilibrium.

Interlayer Expansion of Bulk MoS2 via Top‐Down Organic Pillaring Enables Tunable Li+ Intercalation and Controlled Solvent Co‐Intercalation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Top‐down organic pillaring expands the interlayer spacing of bulk‐sized MoS2 particles while preserving the bulk morphology. Operando X‐ray diffraction and electrochemical dilatometry show that MoS2‐bulk undergoes solvent co‐intercalation in diglyme electrolyte, causing large structural expansion, while pillared, expanded MoS2 suppresses solvent uptake

Runaway electron losses enhanced by resonant magnetic perturbations

open access: yes, 2011
Disruptions in large tokamaks can lead to the generation of a relativistic runaway electronbeam that may cause serious damage to the first wall. To suppress the runaway beam the applicationof resonant magnetic perturbations (RMP) has been suggested.

Review of Thermally Activated Twisted Coiled Polymer Actuators: A Materials Science Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Thermally activated twisted and coiled polymer actuators (TCPAs) combine lightweight design, large deformation, and scalable fabrication for soft robotic and wearable applications. This review connects polymer structure, processing history, helix geometry, and thermomechanical characterization to actuator performance, highlighting current challenges in

Skyrmion-skyrmion and skyrmion-edge repulsions in skyrmion-based racetrack memory

open access: yes, 2015
Magnetic skyrmions are promising for building next-generation magnetic memories and spintronic devices due to their stability, small size and the extremely low currents needed to move them. In particular, skyrmion-based racetrack memory is attractive for
