Vortex confinement through an unquantized magnetic flux

open access: yes
Geometrically confined superconductors often experience a breakdown in the quantization of magnetic flux owing to the incomplete screening of the supercurrent against field penetration.

Simulations of NBI ion losses with 3D magnetic perturbations and charge exchange on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Guiding-center orbit-following simulations of fast ion losses for two neutral beam injections (NBIs) with three-dimensional (3D) magnetic perturbations and charge exchange (CX) by the GYCAVA code are presented. Here, 3D magnetic perturbations include the

Electrocapillary Modulated Interfacial Tension Amplifies Liquid Metal Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presented an electrocapillary‐enhanced magnetohydrodynamic pumping strategy that harnesses the Lorentz force and interfacial tension modulation of liquid metal droplets to achieve amplified fluidic power. The system enabled low‐voltage, self‐oscillating fluidic transduction with enhanced pressure and flow generation, supporting compact ...

Confined magnetic monopoles in dense QCD

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2011
Non-Abelian strings exist in the color-flavor locked phase of dense QCD. We show that kinks appearing in the world-sheet theory on these strings, in the form of the kink-antikink bound pairs, are the magnetic monopoles --- descendants of the 't Hooft-Polyakov monopoles surviving in such a special form in dense QCD. Our consideration is heavily based on

Curvature-induced singularities and stability analysis of curved perfectly matched layers for ICRF antenna–plasma coupling

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology
In electromagnetic modeling of ion cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) antennas, curved coupling models provide a more realistic representation of the antenna and edge-plasma geometry, improving the accuracy of wave-coupling and loading predictions ...

"Cuspher, A Combined Confinement System"

open access: yes, 1996
Cuspher is a magnetic confinement system which combines a closed [spheromak] and an open [cusp] system. The open system surrounds the closed system that provides a plasma reservoir.

Anion‐Exchange‐Enabled Hydrogel Electrolytes With High Zn2+ Transference for Dendrite‐Free Flexible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A high‐Zn2+‐transference hydrogel electrolyte of ex‐PDADAM is developed via anion exchange at quaternary ammonium sites, achieving high Zn2+ transference number (0.86), ionic conductivity (8.10 mS cm−1), and toughness (51.25 MJ m−3). Symmetric cells are operated stably for over 2000 h, while flexible pouch cells retain 90.9% capacity after 300 cycles ...
