Bifurcation from L-mode to internal transport barrier triggered by a magnetic island in tokamak plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Magnetic islands are believed to be responsible for triggering the internal transport barrier (ITB) around the rational surface and hence improves confinement in magnetic confinement fusion plasma, for more than two decades.

High Energy Electron Confinement in a Magnetic Cusp Configuration

open access: yes, 2014
We report experimental results validating the concept that plasma confinement is enhanced in a magnetic cusp configuration when beta (plasma pressure/magnetic field pressure) is order of unity.

Numerical Analysis of Charged Particles Transport in Air Based on Vortex Rings

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Charged particles are widely used in the fields of defogging, haze removal and artificial rainfall. A novel transport strategy of charged particles based on the vortex rings is presented in this paper, to expand the effective action region and enhance ...

Centrifugal Breakout of Magnetically Confined Line-Driven Stellar Winds

open access: yes, 2006
We present 2D MHD simulations of the radiatively driven outflow from a rotating hot star with a dipole magnetic field aligned with the star's rotation axis.

Progress in toroidal magnetic confinement

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1979
This paper will discuss the confinement properties of plasma in magnetic fields which are characterized by their strong toroidal components. In such systems confinement is achieved by the addition of poloidal magnetic fields which are either produced internally by toroidal currents induced in the plasma - internal confinement - or by currents flowing ...

Formation of Stable Amorphous Calcium Phosphate and Collagen Assemblies by a Versatile Spray‐Drying Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) microparticles with long‐term and thermal stability are prepared with or without collagen using a scalable one‐pot spray‐drying process. Under simulated physiological conditions, they crystallize into biomimetic bone mineral and, when combined with collagen, form extrudable, fibrillar bone‐like 3D constructs.

High-beta disruption prediction study on HL-2A with instance-based transfer learning

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Unmitigated disruptions pose a much more serious threat when large-scale tokamaks are operating in the high performance regime. Machine learning based disruption predictors can exhibit impressive performance.

Quantum dots formed in three-dimensional Dirac semimetal Cd$_3$As$_2$ nanowires

open access: yes, 2018
We demonstrate quantum dot (QD) formation in three-dimensional Dirac semimetal Cd$_{3}$As$_{2}$ nanowires using two electrostatically tuned p$-$n junctions with a gate and magnetic fields.
