Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Magnetic field induced entropy change and magnetoelasticity in Ni-Mn-Ga alloys

open access: yes, 2002
The magnetocaloric effect that originates from the martensitic transition in the ferromagnetic Ni-Mn-Ga shape-memory alloy is studied. We show that this effect is controlled by the magnetostructural coupling at both the martensitic variant and magnetic

Landau model evaluation of the magnetic entropy change in magnetocaloric materials

open access: yes, 2021
The field exponent for the magnetic entropy change n=dlnΔS/dlnH in a magnetic field was evaluated using the Landau model to provide a classification for the nature of the ferromagnetic-to-paramagnetic transitions at the Curie temperature TC in ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Entropy of Conduction Electrons from Transport Experiments

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
The entropy of conduction electrons was evaluated utilizing the thermodynamic definition of the Seebeck coefficient as a tool. This analysis was applied to two different kinds of scientific questions that can—if at all—be only partially ...

Crystal electric field level scheme leading to giant magnetocaloric effect for hydrogen liquefaction

open access: yesCommunications Materials, 2023
Magnetic refrigeration materials containing rare-earth ions are promising for hydrogen liquefaction and energy storage applications. Here, the role of crystal-field level splitting on magnetic entropy change is systematically investigated, comparing mean-

Magnetic entropy change in Fe-based compound LaFe10.6Si2.4

open access: yes, 2000
A large magnetic entropy change has been observed in an intermetallic compound LaFe10.6Si2.4. The maximum -ΔSM ≈ 3.2 J/kg K was found at its Curie temperature, ∼242 K, upon a 2 T magnetic field change. Although the entropy change is slightly smaller than

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Magnetocaloric response of FeCrB amorphous alloys: Predicting the magnetic entropy change from the Arrott–Noakes equation of state. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The magnetic entropy change in Fe92−xCr8Bx x=12,15 amorphous alloys has been studied. Increasing the B content, both the peak entropy change and the Curie temperature of the alloy increase.

Efficacy of Intermittent Theta‐Burst Stimulation for Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness: A Prospective, Randomized, Controlled Trial

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emerging evidence suggests that low‐frequency neural oscillations are dynamically regulated by consciousness levels, with the recovery of low cortical activity potentially serving as a neurophysiological substrate for conscious emergence. Targeted enhancement of these low‐frequency rhythms in patients with disorders of consciousness
