PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Investigation on the Parasitic Capacitance of High Frequency and High Voltage Transformers of Multi-Section Windings

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Resonant converters are widely used in high voltage applications thanks to the soft switching technologies. The high frequency and high voltage (HFHV) transformer is the most complicated and important part to boost the voltage by tens or hundreds of ...

Analysis of vibronic coupling in a 4f molecular magnet with FIRMS

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
For molecular magnets and qubits, coupling between vibrations and electronic spins has a strong influence on spin state lifetime. Here, Kragskow et al present direct measurements of the vibronic transitions in a molecular magnet, showing the critical ...

A strong magnetic field around the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2013
Earth’s nearest candidate supermassive black hole lies at the centre of the Milky Way. Its electromagnetic emission is thought to be powered by radiatively inefficient accretion of gas from its environment, which is a standard mode of energy supply for ...

YAP1::TFE3 mediates endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal plasticity in epithelioid hemangioendothelioma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The YAP1::TFE3 fusion protein drives endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndMT) plasticity, resulting in the loss of endothelial characteristics and gain of mesenchymal‐like properties, including resistance to anoikis, increased migratory capacity, and loss of contact growth inhibition in endothelial cells.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Imaging quantized vortex rings in superfluid helium to evaluate quantum dissipation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
The motion of quantized vortices is responsible for many intriguing phenomena in diverse quantum-fluid systems. Having a theoretical model to reliably predict the vortex motion therefore promises a broad significance.
