A linear magnetic-geared permanent magnet machine for wave energy generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a new linear magnetic-geared permanent magnet (PM) machine for wave energy generation. In order to match the low speed of wave motion with the high-speed machine design, a linear PM machine is artfully integrated with a linear ...

Electromagnetic Design of a New Electrically Controlled Magnetic Variable-Speed Gearing Machine

open access: yesEnergies, 2014
This paper proposes a new electrically controlled magnetic variable-speed gearing (EC-MVSG) machine, which is capable of providing controllable gear ratios for hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) applications.

Unlocking fruit dimensions: Quantification of functional traits driving plant–frugivore interactions

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Fleshy fruits attract animals to ingest fruit, swallow the seeds, and release them in the landscape, thus facilitating seed dispersal and plant regeneration. Attraction of animal dispersers is achieved via attractants such as color or scent, and rewards like sugars, lipids, and micronutrients.

Radiometer-deployment subsystem [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
A radiometer-deployment subsystem for the Nimbus E spacecraft was designed, developed, and qualified for space use. The dimensions of the radiometer are 0.9 meter square by 0.1 meter, and its weighs 32 kilograms.

Geophysical Investigations at the Artemision at Amarynthos of Euboea (Greece)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A combination of resistivity mapping and three‐dimensional electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) was used to investigate the subsurface of the sanctuary of Artemis Amarysia in Amarynthos, Euboea (Greece), an area where archaeological remains from the Bronze Age to the post‐Byzantine period are preserved.

Advances in Triboelectric Nanogenerators With Rotating Structure

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
The rotating TENG has been widely studied for its superiorities of simple structure, high efficiency, and stable output. This review introduced the four different principles of rotating TENG and offered a thorough summary for performance and application research through three‐level classification. Importantly, the current existing problems, challenges,

Magnetic gear and coupling using permanent magnet.

open access: yesJournal of the Magnetics Society of Japan, 1987
Recently, permanent magnets have shown excellent practical performance characteristics. A description is given of a magnetic device with rotational ratio n constructed using a permanent magnet. When n ≠ 1, it operates as a magnetic gear and when n = 1, it operates as a magnetic coupling. As a magnetic gear, we used SmCo5 for the permanent magnet.
