Problems of Evaluation of the Flaw Parameters in the Magnetic Nondestructive Testing

The magnetic leakage fields are investigated experimentally on rectangular-slit aw models for various magnetizing fields H0. It is shown that in certain cases the aw parameters can be incorrectly classified as a result of coincidence of their leakage fields.

Abstract Aging was performed to understand the microstructural degradation in 2.25Cr–1Mo steel. Microstructural parameters (mean equivalent carbide size, number of carbides per unit area), mechanical properties (UTS, Vickers hardness) and magnetic properties (coercivity, remanence) were measured to investigate the relationship among these parameters.

Magnetic susceptibility imaging for nondestructive evaluation (using SQUID magnetometer)

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 1993
High-resolution superconducting magnetometers such as MicroSQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) have been shown to be effective for nondestructive evaluation. MicroSQUID can also be used with a room-temperature magnet to image the magnetic susceptibility of materials.
