Synthesis and characterization of Au nanoshells with a magnetic core and betaine derivatives
The article describes preparation, characterization and further modification of hybrid magnetic particles (Au nanoshells with a magnetic core (MPs@silica@Au)) by zwitterionic molecules bearing diazonium functional groups.

Although too much iron in the brain promotes neurodegeneration, iron ion chelators have had mixed effects in clinical trials. This review explains why; some chelators do not render the iron redox‐inactive (e.g., L1) whereas others do (e.g., desferrioxamine).

Peripheral lysosomes recruit PLEKHG3 to focal adhesions and restrain protrusion dynamics
Proximity‐dependent labeling at the LAMTOR complex revealed the Rho GEF PLEKHG3 as a lysosome‐proximal protein directing the study toward the influence of lysosome positioning on actin dynamics and cell motility. We show that PLEKHG3 colocalizes with lysosomes at focal adhesion sites and observe that forced peripheral dispersion of lysosomes hinders ...

High-gradient magnetic chromatography of rare-earth elements
High-gradient magnetic chromatography (HGMC) is the chromatographic separation of a mixture of magnetic particles using high-gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) systems. However, unlike HGMS which has traditionally been used to separate magnetic from non-

Magnetic particle swarm optimization [PDF]
In this paper, we propose a new particle swarm approach based on the idea of repulsion by a magnetic field. The structure of the method is presented and, using a number of well-known benchmark functions in a 30-dimension search space, its performance is compared to that of well-established algorithms of similar inspiration.

We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Availability of multi-particle collision dynamics method for magnetic particle suspensions
In order to apply the multi-particle collision dynamics (MPCD) method to a magnetic particle suspension, we have elucidated the dependence of the translational and rotational Brownian motion of magnetic particles on the MPCD parameters that characterize ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...
