Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Evaluation of left ventricular blood flow kinetic energy in patients with acute myocardial infarction by 4D Flow MRI: a preliminary study

open access: yesBMC Medical Imaging
Purpose To evaluate the intracavity left ventricular (LV) blood flow kinetic energy (KE) parameters using four-dimensional (4D) flow cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

The Protective Roles of Urinary Trypsin Inhibitor in Brain Injury Following Fat Embolism Syndrome in a Rat Model

open access: yesCell Transplantation, 2019
Fat embolism syndrome (FES) is a common complication following long bone fracture; fat droplets are released into the blood circulation and form embolisms, mainly in lung and brain. However, the potential mechanisms involved remain to be clarified.

Brain network construction and analysis for patients with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease based on a highly‐available nodes approach

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, 2021
Introduction Using brain network and graph theory methods to analyze the Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI) abnormal brain function is more and more popular. Plenty of potential methods have been proposed, but the representative

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Altered functional connectivity within the primary visual networks and neurotransmitter activity in male smokers: A group ICA study

open access: yesBrain Research Bulletin
Smoking puts patients at high risk for cognitive and psychiatric disorders. The aim of this study was to explore the effects of nicotine use on primary visual network (PVN) and its association with neurotransmitters.
