The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Magnetic Maps of Indoor Environments for Precise Localization of Legged and Non-legged Locomotion

open access: yes, 2013
The magnetic field in indoor environments is rich in features and exceptionally easy to sense. In conjunction with any form of odometry, such as wheel- or IMUbased, a map of this field can be used to precisely localize a human or robot in indoor ...

Updating Dynamic Noise Models With Moving Magnetoencephalographic (MEG) Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Optically pumped magnetometers have opened many possibilities for the study of human brain function using wearable moveable technology. In order to fully exploit this capability, a stable low-field environment at the sensors is required.

Automatic Localization of an Ultrasound Probe with the Help of Magnetic Sensors

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2022
Ultrasound measurements are a widely used instrument in clinical practice. For later traceability of the images, the position (and orientation) of the ultrasound probe must be recorded during the measurement. Until now this has to be done manually by the

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

Defenses Against Perception-Layer Attacks on IoT Smart Furniture for Impaired People

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming highly supportive in innovative technological solutions for assisting impaired people. Some of these IoT solutions are still in a prototyping phase ignoring possible attacks and the corresponding security defenses ...

An “exceptional” magnetic sensor

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications
Abstract Building a sensitive magnetic field sensor is non-trivial; building a more sensitive one by adding extra loss to the sensor is counterintuitive, but with innovative ideas from non-Hermitian physics like an exceptional point, a new magnetic field sensor first of its kind paves the way for broader applications of similar techniques.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Minimalistic devices and sensors for micromagnetic materials characterization

open access: yes, 2022
S.101-104Micromagnetic materials characterization requires sensors which essentially consist of two critical elements: an electromagnet which introduces a well-defined magnetic field to the material, and a sensor system which detects the material's ...
