Models and materials for generalized Kitaev magnetism [PDF]
The exactly solvable Kitaev model on the honeycomb lattice has recently received enormous attention linked to the hope of achieving novel spin-liquid states with fractionalized Majorana-like excitations.

Scaling laws of free magnetic energy stored in a solar emerging flux region [PDF]
This Letter reports scaling laws of free magnetic energy stored in a solar emerging flux region which is a key to understanding the energetics of solar active phenomena such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections. By performing 3-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations that reproduce several emerging flux regions of different magnetic ...

Nonlinear turbulent magnetic diffusion and effective drift velocity of large-scale magnetic field in a two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic turbulence [PDF]
We study a nonlinear quenching of turbulent magnetic diffusion and effective drift velocity of large-scale magnetic field in a developed two-dimensional MHD turbulence at large magnetic Reynolds numbers. We show that transport of the mean-square magnetic potential strongly changes quenching of turbulent magnetic diffusion.

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Magnetic fluctuations and formation of large-scale inhomogeneous magnetic structures in a turbulent convection [PDF]
Magnetic fluctuations generated by a tangling of the mean magnetic field by velocity fluctuations are studied in a developed turbulent convection with large magnetic Reynolds numbers. We show that the energy of magnetic fluctuations depends on magnetic Reynolds number only when the mean magnetic field is smaller than $B_{eq} / 4 Rm^{1/4}$, where $B_{eq}

In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Light-wave dynamic control of magnetism [PDF]
The enigmatic interplay between electronic and magnetic phenomena observed in many early experiments and outlined in Maxwell’s equations propelled the development of modern electromagnetism1. Today, the fully controlled evolution of the electric field of

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Spherical silicon nanoparticles with sizes of a few hundreds of nanometers represent a unique optical system. According to theoretical predictions based on Mie theory they can exhibit strong magnetic resonances in the visible spectral range. The basic mechanism of excitation of such modes inside the nanoparticles is very similar to that of split-ring ...
