Weakly magnetized black holes as particle accelerators

open access: yes, 2011
We study collision of particles in the vicinity of a horizon of a weakly magnetized non-rotating black hole. In the presence of the magnetic field innermost stable circular orbits (ISCO) of charged particles can be located close to the horizon.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

A Compact Spin‐Coated Graphene UWB Antenna for Breast Tumor Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A compact, spin‐coated graphene ultra‐wideband patch antenna designed for breast tumor detection, capable of distinguishing between malignant and benign tumors. This innovative antenna can serve as an effective initial screening tool, particularly in resource‐limited settings such as rural areas, where access to advanced medical equipment like MRI and ...

Klein-Gordon particles in a nonuniform external magnetic field in Bonnor-Melvin rainbow gravity background

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
We investigate the effect of rainbow gravity on Klein-Gordon (KG) bosons in a quantized nonuniform magnetic field in the background of Bonnor-Melvin (BM) spacetime with a cosmological constant.

Ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of unmagnetized dense plasma jet injection into a hot strongly magnetized plasma

open access: yes, 2011
We present results from three-dimensional ideal magnetohydrodynamic simulations of unmagnetized dense plasma jet injection into a uniform hot strongly magnetized plasma, with the aim of providing insight into core fueling of a tokamak with parameters ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Clustering transitions in vibro-fluidized magnetized granular materials

open access: yes, 2002
We study the effects of long range interactions on the phases observed in cohesive granular materials. At high vibration amplitudes, a gas of magnetized particles is observed with velocity distributions similar to non-magnetized particles.

Motion of Charged Particles around a Weakly Magnetized Rotating Black Hole [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We study the motion of a charged particle around a weakly magnetized rotating black hole. We classify the fate of a charged particle kicked out from the innermost stable circular orbit.

Composition‐Tuned Enhancement of the Anomalous Nernst Effect in FeCo–Pt Thin Films on Rigid and Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.
