Magneto-optical trap of titanium atoms

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We realize a magneto-optical trap (MOT) of titanium (Ti) atoms, performing laser cooling on the 498 nm transition between the long-lived 3d^{3}(^{4}F)4sa^{5}F_{5} metastable state and the 3d^{3}(^{4}F)4py^{5}G_{6}^{o} excited state.

Magneto-Optical Trap for Thulium Atoms [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2010
Thulium atoms are trapped in a magneto-optical trap using a strong transition at 410 nm with a small branching ratio. We trap up to $7\times10^{4}$ atoms at a temperature of 0.8(2) mK after deceleration in a 40 cm long Zeeman slower.

3D Magneto-Optical Trap of Yttrium Monoxide

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
We report three-dimensional trapping of an oxide molecule (YO), using a radio-frequency magneto-optical trap (MOT). The total number of molecules loaded is $\sim$1.5$\times10^4$ , with a temperature of 7(1)~mK. This diversifies the frontier of molecules that are laser coolable and paves the way for the second-stage narrow-line cooling in this molecule ...

Magneto-optical trapping of diatomic molecules

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
The development of the magneto-optical trap revolutionized the fields of atomic and quantum physics by providing a simple method for the rapid production of ultracold, trapped atoms.

Forbidden Transitions in a Magneto-Optical Trap [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2003
We report the first observation of a non-dipole transition in an ultra-cold atomic vapor. We excite the 3P-4P electric quadrupole (E2) transition in $^{23}$Na confined in a Magneto-Optical Trap(MOT), and demonstrate its application to high-resolution ...

The Dual Frequency Anisotropic Magneto-Optical Trap [PDF]

open access: yesThe European Physical Journal D, 2013
The cloud of cold atoms produced by a Magneto-Optical Trap is known to exhibit instabilities. We examine in this paper in which limits it could be possible to realize an experimental trap similar to the configurations studied theoretically, i.e.

Two-dimensional grating magneto-optical trap [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2017
We demonstrate a two-dimensional grating magneto-optical trap (2D GMOT) with a single input cooling laser beam and a planar diffraction grating using $^{87}$Rb. This configuration increases experimental access when compared with a traditional 2D MOT.

Rydberg-Dressed Magneto-optical Trap [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2018
We propose and demonstrate the laser cooling and trapping of Rydberg-dressed Sr atoms. By off-resonantly coupling the excited state of a narrow (7 kHz) cooling transition to a high-lying Rydberg state, we transfer Rydberg properties such as enhanced electric polarizability to a stable magneto-optical trap operating at $< 1 K$.
