A Smart Fluid‐Hydraulic System Based on MRF Valve Control and Its Application in Flexible Grasping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a smart fluid hydraulic system using MRF valve control for flexible gripping. An MRF‐MSV with an integrated excitation coil and micro‐textured damping channels is designed and validated; micro‐texturing increases hydraulic resistance. Coupled with a soft actuator, the MRF‐MSV enables dynamic bending and grasping.

How mainstream is mainstreaming?

open access: yes, 2014
Cities need to adapt to climate change, as associated risks such as heat stress and flooding can disturb and damage urban systems and services. Since the future costs of this damage are expected to be higher than the estimated investments required, cities would be wise to start to organize climate adaptation today.

EphB1‐Mediated Transient Blood‐Brain Barrier Opening Facilitates a Ferritin‐Based Nanotherapeutic for Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We constructed a brain‐targeted AFn‐DPZ nanodrug delivery system and identified EphB1 as its receptor on the blood‐brain barrier (BBB). This system facilitates drug transport across the BBB and thereby ameliorates cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease.

Radical‐Mediated In Situ Fluorescence Dye Deposition: A Simple Interfacial Signal Amplification Reaction for Ultrasensitive Immunoassay on Barcode Beads

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A radical‐mediated in situ fluorescence dye deposition (RIFD) reaction containing merely three elements of beads, dyes, and radicals is discovered for the first time, and its underlying mechanism is elucidated. This simple RIFD enables the interfacial and ultrafast deposition of free dyes onto barcode beads, serving as a powerful signal amplification ...
