Supporting farmers in maintaining and selecting seeds of local varieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This book addresses strategies and approaches through which professionals can support informal seed supply, and link these with the conservation and use of the huge genetic resource base of crops and local varieties.

A Biomarker‐Driven Ovary–Endometrium Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Mimicking 3D Multicellular Complexity and Menstrual Cyclicity for Predicting Reproductive Toxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present a dual‐organ, biomarker‐integrated ovaryendometrium organ‐on‐a‐chip that recapitulates 3D tissue complexity, menstrual cycle dynamics, and hormonal crosstalk. This platform enables real‐time, cell‐typespecific fluorescent readouts of reproductive toxicity using ANGPTL4 and SERPINB2 as early‐response reporters.

ERK‐Mediated Phosphorylation of YAP Defines a Noncanonical FGF Signaling Mechanism in Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
With a powerful combination of in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models, the authors highlight a novel FGF‐ERK signaling regulation of YAP at the S128 site in neural crest‐derived stem cells. This study opens exciting new directions in stem cell biology and craniofacial biology, paving the way for potential innovations in the treatment of craniofacial ...

TRMT6‐Mediated m1A Modification of CDK9 mRNA Is a Dual‐Pronged Pathogenic Driver for HBV‐Related Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRMT6‐mediated m1A modification in CDK9 mRNA enhances its mRNA stability and translation efficiency, thereby increasing the protein levels of CDK9. Upregulated CDK9 promotes the progression of HCC by elevating the levels of oncogenic factors including p‐STAT3, MCL1, and BCL‐2. On the other hand, CDK9 phosphorylates TARDBP at Ser254 to activate HBV core

Identifying key factors influencing maize stalk lodging resistance through wind tunnel simulations with machine learning algorithms

open access: yesArtificial Intelligence in Agriculture
Climate change has intensified maize stalk lodging, severely impacting global maize production. While numerous traits influence stalk lodging resistance, their relative importance remains unclear, hindering breeding efforts.

The Uppsala APP Mutation Promotes Wild‐Type Amyloid‐β Aggregation and Deposition In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We investigated in vivo cross‐seeding of amyloid‐β (Aβ) isoforms in transgenic mice co‐expressing wild‐typeAβ and the Uppsala‐mutant Aβ variant (AβUpp), lacking six central residues. Weleveraged MALDI‐MS imaging and hyperspectral microscopy to follow spatio‐temporalAβ deposition.

Inventory of observed unexpected environmental effects of genetically modified crops [PDF]

open access: yes
In general, it can be concluded that very few clearly unexpected effects were observed during the large scale post-release growing of herbicide-tolerant crops and Bt crops.
