Affinity proteomics reveals elevated muscle proteins in plasma of children with cerebral malaria [PDF]
Systemic inflammation and sequestration of parasitized erythrocytes are central processes in the pathophysiology of severe Plasmodium falciparum childhood malaria. However, it is still not understood why some children are more at risks to develop malaria

Chemically Enhanced Immunogenicity of Bacteria by Supramolecular Functionalization with an Adjuvant
Poorly immunogenic pathogens are a major cause of infectious disease. We chemically modified the surface of such a pathogen (Staphylococcus aureus) with a synthetic adjuvant to boost immunogenicity. “Adjuvanted” S. aureus induced improved immune responses in macrophages compared to unadulterated bacteria.

Knowledge-Attitudes-Practices About Malaria Among Communities in Southern Benin [PDF]
Malaria still remains the main public health problem in Benin. We explored the determinants that influenced malaria treatment as well as protective behaviors, to generate a framework of useful ideas as alternative strategies against malaria.

Although global morbidity and mortality have decreased substantially, malaria, a parasite infection of red blood cells, still kills roughly 2000 people per day, most of whom are children in Africa. Two factors largely account for these decreases; increased deployment of insecticide-treated bednets and increased availability of highly effective ...
