Radiotherapy Enhancement by Gold Nanocluster‐functionalized Nanoliposomes Using Polychromatic Orthovoltage X‐ray Irradiation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Lipid drug carriers to which ultra‐small gold nanoparticles were added enabled more efficient radiotherapy of cultured pancreatic cancer tumors. These nanoparticles boosted radiation‐induced damage to tumors by generating more reactive molecules, though higher gold levels are needed for strong benefits.

MALDI-TOF MS protein fingerprinting of mixed samples

open access: yesBiology Methods and Protocols, 2019
Abstract Analytical techniques currently available for the characterization of mixtures of microorganisms are generally based on next-generation sequencing. Motivated to develop practical and less-expensive methods for characterizing such mixtures, we propose, as an alternative or complement, the use of matrix-assisted laser-desorption ...

Mitochondria‐Specific Protein Delivery by Protease‐Triggered Release in Plants with Single‐Walled Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Polymer‐coated carbon nanotubes were engineered as protease‐responsive nanocarriers for protein delivery in intact plants. GFP cargo can be released by cytosolic phytaspase cleavage and subsequently targeted to mitochondria via an N‐terminal sequence, enabling controlled intracellular protein delivery without tissue damage and demonstrating stable ...

Mould routine identification in the clinical laboratory by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
BACKGROUND: MALDI-TOF MS recently emerged as a valuable identification tool for bacteria and yeasts and revolutionized the daily clinical laboratory routine. But it has not been established for routine mould identification. This study aimed to validate a

Bay‐functionalized [7]Helicene Bilayer Nanographenes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Bay‐functionalized [7]helical bilayer nanographenes are synthesized via a scalable, modular strategy enabling late‐stage diversification. Tailored methoxy, diketone, and phenazine substitutions precisely tune redox, photophysical, and chiroptical properties, delivering strong electronic circular dichroism and bright circularly polarized luminescence ...

Use of matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry to identify vancomycin-resistant enterococci and investigate the epidemiology of an outbreak [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The control of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) has become an increasing burden on health care resources since their discovery over 20 years ago.

Mass Spectrometry Imaging‐Assisted Discovery of Gallotannin Biosynthetic Genes in the Root of Paeonia suffruticosa

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated approach combining mass spectrometry imaging, transcriptomics, and phylogenetic analysis facilitated the efficient identification of genes involved in gallotannin biosynthesis in Paeonia suffruticosa. As a result, a key UGT and several SCPL acyltransferases responsible for biosynthesizing pentagalloylglucose were successfully identified ...

Investigations of the lysophospholipid composition of human neutrophils under different stimulation conditions by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation time-of-flight mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Serbian Chemical Society, 2002
Matrix-assisted laser desorption / ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) is usually used for the analyses of proteins carbohydrates and oligonucleotides.
