Aosta Valley animal cancer registry: A collaborative initiative for monitoring cancer burden in animals

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Background Animal cancer registry data are important for monitoring animal health, for prevention and research in veterinary medicine, and for comparative oncology. Since people and animals share the same environment and are exposed to many common risk factors, cancer patterns in animals may have a sentinel function for human health.

Characterization of Urinary Kidney Injury Biomarker Profiles in Healthy Japanese Subjects With Reference to a Counterpart US Study

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Drug‐induced kidney injury should be monitored throughout the drug development process to ensure patient safety. Standard kidney injury biomarkers may not always correlate with subtle microscopic histopathological kidney injury. Standard biomarkers are insufficiently sensitive for detection of early‐phase kidney injury.

Establishment of human malignant mesothelioma cell lines

open access: yes, 1989
Seventeen human malignant mesothelioma cell lines were isolated from 61 samples (46 effusions, 9 biopsies and 6 tumors obtained at autopsy) collected from patients with a confirmed malignant mesothelioma. The method used is given in detail.

Tumor‐Specific Success Probabilities and Factors Associated With Phase III Trials in Oncology Drug Development

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Despite advances in novel therapeutic modalities, such as molecularly targeted agents and immunotherapies, the probability of success in Phase III oncology trials remains low. This study quantitatively characterized success probabilities of Phase III trials in oncology drug development and evaluated the factors associated with trial success ...

Chemosensitivity and Cytokine Sensitivity of Malignant Mesothelioma

open access: yes, 1991
Malignant mesothelioma arises in serosal tissues, is locally invasive, and is usually resistant to chemotherapeutic agents used clinically. To determine whether resistance to cytotoxic drugs was an inherent characteristic of mesothelioma cells, we ...

Erionite in Auckland bedrock and malignant mesothelioma: an emerging public and occupational health hazard?

open access: yes, 2020
Overseas, emerging research has shown that where erionite is present in bedrock as a zeolite, and then subsequently disturbed and blown into the atmosphere, resulting exposure is associated with health effects similar to those caused by asbestos ...

Antigen targeting and anti-tumor activity of a novel anti-CD146 212Pb internalizing alpha-radioimmunoconjugate against malignant peritoneal mesothelioma

open access: yesScientific Reports
Malignant mesothelioma, a highly aggressive cancer that primarily affects the serosal membranes, has limited therapeutic options, particularly for cavitary tumors, such as peritoneal and pleural malignant mesothelioma.

Extracellular stressors change BBSome expression of benign mesothelial and primary pleural mesothelioma cells and affect cell adhesion and migration

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 12, June 2026.
Abstract Pleural mesothelial cells have a primary cilium (PC), a solitary sensory organelle facing the extracellular environment. The BBSome is critical for the PC function and comprises several BBS proteins. Extracellular stimuli, like the ones encountered during a pleural effusion (osmotic, inflammatory, and oxidative stress‐related signals) could ...
