Cytotoxic and Antitumor Constituents in Pericarps ofMallotus japonicus
Planta Medica, 1990A variety of phloroglucinol derivatives isolated from the pericarps of Mallotus japonicus were assessed for growth inhibiting activity against human larynx (HEp-2) and lung (PC-13) carcinoma cells as well as mouse B16 melanoma, leukemia P388, and L5178Y cells. Most of these derivatives were proved to be significantly cytotoxic in culture.

Further phloroglucinol derivatives in the fruits of Mallotus japonicus
Phytochemistry, 1985Abstract Two new rottlerin-like phloroglucinol derivatives were detected from the fruits of Mallotus japonicus and identified as 3-(3,3-dimethylallyl)-5-(3-acetyl-2,4-dihydroxy-5-methyl-6-methoxybenzyl)-phlorobutyrophenone and -phloroisobutyrophenone by spectral studies.

Studies on Cytotoxic Constituents in Pericarps of Mallotus japonicus. Part III
Journal of Natural Products, 1988Two new cytotoxic chromene derivatives, butyrylmallotochromene [10] and isobutyrylmallotochromene [11], were isolated from the pericarps of Mallotus japonicus. The new derivatives were identified as 5,7-dihydroxy-6-(2',4'-dihydroxy-3'-acetyl-5'-methyl-6'-methoxybenzyl)-8 - butyryl-2,2-dimethylchromene [10] and 5,7-dihydroxy-6-(2',4'-dihydroxy-3'-acetyl-

ent-Labdane Diterpenes from the Stems of Mallotus japonicus
Journal of Natural Products, 2013Eight new ent-labdane diterpenoids, mallonicusins A-H (1-8), were isolated from the stems of Mallotus japonicus. Their structures, including the absolute configurations, were determined by extensive analyses of spectroscopic data and the ECD spectra of the Pr(FOD)₃ complex of substrates in CCl₄. The absolute configuration of compound 1 was confirmed by

Glucosylation of salicylic acid by cell suspension cultures of Mallotus japonicus
Plant Cell Reports, 1990Salicylic acid was converted into its O-glucoside when administered to cell suspension cultures of Mallotus japonicus. The efficiency of the glucosylation was highest in the cells grown in Linsmaier-Skoog medium containing 1 μM 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid at any scale of culture (7 ml - 3 1).

Gallic acid esters of bergenin and norbergenin from Mallotus japonicus
Phytochemistry, 1990Abstract Four new gallotannins, 3,4-di-O-, 4,11-di-O- and 3,4,11-tri-O-galloylbergenins and 4-O-galloylnorbergenin, have been isolated from the bark and leaves of Mallotus japonicus, and their structures elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence.

Cryo-scanning electron microscopy studies of pits in Pinus Wallichiana and Mallotus Japonicus
IAWA Journal, 2010Pits of a softwood (Pinus wallichiana) and a hardwood (Mallotus japonicus) were studied by Cryo-scanning electron microscopy (Cryo-SEM). The samples were chemically untreated and fully hydrated during freezing. Tori of P. wallichiana were frequently aspirated.

Accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) plays an important role in diabetes, immunoinflammation, and cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. Since AGEs mediate their pathological effects through interaction with receptor for AGEs (RAGE), RAGE antagonists would provide a useful therapeutic option for various health disorders ...

Glucosylation of isomeric hydroxybenzoic acids by cell suspension cultures of Mallotus japonicus
Phytochemistry, 1990Abstract Cultured cells of Mallotus japonicus converted exogenous o -hydroxybenzoic acid into its O -glucoside after a lag period of 8 hr during which time the aglycone was taken up rapidly by the cells, partly excreted and then re-absorbed. The glucosylation of the aglycone into o - O -β- d -glucosylbenzoic acid began almost simultaneously with

The hepatoprotective effects of bergenin, a major constituent of Mallotus japonicus, were evaluated against carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4))-induced liver damage in rats. Bergenin at a dose of 50, 100 or 200 mg/kg was administered orally once daily for successive 7 days and then a mixture of 0.5 ml/kg (ip) of CCl(4) in olive oil (1:1) was injected two ...
