MATURATION AND STORAGE OF FUJI APPLES (Malus domestica Borkh) [PDF]

open access: yesHortScience, 1992
Several strains of Fuji apples were harvested weekly from September through October in 1990 and 1991, and evaluated for maturation and quality after 1 and 7 days at 20 °C following harvest and storage in atmospheres of 0.5%, 1.0%, 2.0% O2 and air. Results showed that Fuji apples have very low ethylene production rates and little firmness loss during ...

Assessing essential oils from Macaronesia: a study on their efficacy against phytopathogenic and obligate biotrophic fungi

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 1, Page 421-432, January 2026.
Essential oils (EOs) extracted from eight culinary herbs and spices were evaluated via direct‐contact bioassays, both in vitro and in vivo, against three species of phytopathogenic fungi and one obligatory biotrophic fungus. Phenylpropanoid‐rich EOs presented the strongest antifungal activity in both bioassays with the phytopathogenic and the obligate ...

Variações do conteúdo de carboidratos em gemas e ramos de dois anos de macieira em região de baixa ocorrência de frio Variations of carbohydrate content in two year old buds and stems of apple trees in a region of low chill occurence

Woody perennial polycultures and their influence on soil organic carbon

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract Woody perennial polycultures (WPPs) can contribute to sequestration of soil organic carbon (SOC). We studied how WPP diversity and density, and landscape features influence SOC change. We quantified SOC, particulate organic matter‐carbon and ‐nitrogen (POM‐C and POM‐N), potentially mineralizable nitrogen (PMN), and inherent properties in soil ...

Natural variations in MdBPM2/MdRGLG3‐MdNAC83 network controlling the quantitative segregation of apple fruit storability

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 68, Issue 1, Page 169-190, January 2026.
During postharvest cold storage of apples, the NAC transcription factor MdNAC83 binds to the promoters and activates the expression of downstream genes and is regulated by E3 ligases, which promote its ubiquitination and degradation. Genetic variants in MdNAC83 and its downstream genes form a network to regulate apple fruit storability.
