Genetical metabolomics in apples (Malus x domestica Borkh)

open access: yes
The aim of this thesis was finding genes that control the production of potentially health beneficial metabolites in apple fruits. The approach was genetic mapping of secondary metabolites such as phenolic compounds in an F1 progeny, leading to the detection of genetic loci that controlled these metabolites.

Exploring phenotypic diversity and stability of key traits for apple breeding in northeastern Spanish germplasm

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
Malus x domestica Borkh is a key temperate fruit crop globally, but climate change and market demands highlight the need to broaden its narrow genetic base.

Assessment of RNAi-induced silencing in banana (Musa spp.) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In plants, RNA- based gene silencing mediated by small RNAs functions at the transcriptional or post-transcriptional level to negatively regulate target genes, repetitive sequences, viral RNAs and/or transposon elements.

Root exudation of phloridzin by apple seedlings (Malus x domestica Borkh.) with symptoms of apple replant disease

open access: yesJournal of Applied Botany and Food Quality, 2012
This study investigates the occurrence of the flavonoid phloridzin (phloretin-2'-O-β-D-glucoside) in root exudates of apple seedlings showing growth reduction related to apple replant disease (ARD).

Genetic diversity in a collection of apple (Malus x domestica Borkh.) cultivars as revealed by RAPD markers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Horticultural Science, 2007
A collection of 151 apple cultivars was investigated with 7 RAPD primers generating 71 informative bands, to evaluate genetic variability and relatedness. All cultivars presumably derived through genetic recombination were distinguished whereas identical
