A case of manganese precipitate in the Taviharju esker, Kuusamo, North East Finland [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1972
A manganese-iron precipitate of an exceptional size has been found in the Taviharju esker in Kuusamo, North-East Finland. The different forms in which manganese is known to be deposited in humid areas such as Finland are listed.

Magnetic States and Electronic Properties of Manganese-Based Intermetallic Compounds Mn$_2$YAl and Mn$_3$Z (Y = V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni; Z = Al, Ge, Sn, Si, Pt) [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials 16(19), 6351 (2023), 2023
We present a brief review of experimental and theoretical papers on studies of electron transport and magnetic properties in manganese-based compounds Mn$_2$YZ and Mn$_3$Z (Y = V, Cr, Fe, Co, Ni, etc.; Z = Al, Ge, Sn, Si, Pt, etc.). It has been shown that in the electronic subsystem of Mn$_2$YZ compounds, the states of a half-metallic ferromagnet and a

Mechanisms of manganese-induced neurotoxicity and the pursuit of neurotherapeutic strategies

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Chronic exposure to elevated levels of manganese via occupational or environmental settings causes a neurological disorder known as manganism, resembling the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, such as motor deficits and cognitive impairment.

Design and development of a portable resistive sensor based on α‐MnO2/GQD nanocomposites for trace quantification of Pb(II) in water

open access: yesIET Nanobiotechnology, 2021
The occurrence of heavy metal ions in food chain is appearing to be a major problem for mankind. The traces of heavy metals, especially Pb(II) ions present in water bodies remains undetected, untreated, and it remains in the food cycle causing serious ...

Intercation Between Some Micro-Elements And Humic Substances in Some Forest Soils Northern Iraq

open access: yesTikrit Journal for Agricultural Sciences, 2022
Four pedons were selected for different soils in the forest cover, two in each of Mankeesh and Atrush areas in Dohuk governorate, under pine and oak trees, in order to study the distribution of the main groups of humic compounds (humic and fulvic acids ...

Building Manganese Halide Hybrid Materials with 0D, 1D, and 2D Dimensionalities

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
In recent years, metal-halide hybrid materials have attracted considerable attention because materials, such as lead-iodide perovskites, can have excellent properties as photovoltaics, light-emitting devices, and photodetectors.

Investigation of the Uniformity of Gel Shrinkage by Imaging Tracer Particles Using X‐Ray Microtomography

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView., 2023
A novel method for tracking structural changes in gels using widely accessible microcomputed tomography is presented and validated for various hydro‐, alco‐, and aerogels. The core idea of the method is to track positions of micrometer‐sized tracer particles entrapped in the gel and relate them to the density of the gel network.

Potential interactions between metal-based phenanthroline drugs and the unfolded protein response endoplasmic reticulum stress pathway

open access: yesExperimental Results, 2022
The unfolded protein response has recently been implicated as a mechanism by which 1,10-phenanthroline-containing coordination compounds trigger cell death.
