The magnetic order of a manganese vanadate system with two-dimensional striped triangular lattice [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances 8, 101407 (2018), 2018
Results of magnetization and neutron diffraction measurements of the manganese vanadate system Mn$_5$(VO$_4$)$_2$(OH)$_4$ are reported. The crystal structure of this compound contains triangular [Mn$_3$O$_{13}$] building blocks that produce two-dimensional Mn$^{2+}$ magnetic networks with striped triangular topologies.

Direct observation of electron doping in La0.7Ce0.3MnO3 using x-ray absorption spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2002
We report on a X-ray absorption spectroscopic (XAS) study on a thin film of La0.7Ce0.3MnO3, a manganite which was previously only speculated to be an electron doped system.

Field-Induced Magnetization Steps in Intermetallic Compounds and Manganese Oxides: The Martensitic Scenario [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Field-induced magnetization jumps with similar characteristics are observed at low temperature for the intermetallic germanide Gd5Ge4and the mixed-valent manganite Pr0.6Ca0.4Mn0.96Ga0.04O3. We report that the field location -and even the existence- of these jumps depends critically on the magnetic field sweep rate used to record the data.

Nano-Size Layered Manganese-Calcium Oxide as an Efficient and Biomimetic Catalyst for Water Oxidation Under Acidic Conditions: Comparable To Platinum [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Inspired by Nature's catalyst, a nano-size layered manganese-calcium oxide showed a low overvoltage for water oxidation in acidic solutions, which is comparable to platinum.Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences and the National Elite ...

Nitrogen removal in marine environments: recent findings and future research challenges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Respiratory reduction of nitrate (denitrification) is recognized as the most important process converting biologically available (fixed) nitrogen to N2. In current N cycle models, a major proportion of global marine denitrification (50–70%) is assumed to

Magnetic properties, chemical and phase composition of thin manganese silicide films fabricated by pulsed laser deposition [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Manganese silicide (MnxSiy) thin films with Mn content (CMn) varied from 24 at. % to 52 at. % were grown on i-GaAs (100) substrates. Chemical, phase composition and room temperature magnetic properties of the films were investigated. It was demonstrated that manganese silicide films revealing ferromagnetic properties are multiphase systems. The phases,

Crystal Chemistry and Magnetic Properties of Manganese Zinc Alloy "YMn2Zn20" Comprising a Mn Pyrochlore Lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The chemical composition, crystal structure, and magnetic properties of a manganese zinc alloy with an ideal composition of YMn2Zn20, which comprises a pyrochlore lattice made of Mn atoms, are reported. The compound is stable only when In or Al is partially substituted for Zn. We have determined the actual chemical formula as YMn2+dZn20-x-dMx, with M =

Intermediate Valence Model for the Colossal Magnetoresistance in Tl_{2}Mn_{2}O_{7}

open access: yes, 1997
The colossal magnetoresistance exhibited by Tl_{2}Mn_{2}O_{7} is an interesting phenomenon, as it is very similar to that found in perovskite manganese oxides although the compound differs both in its crystalline structure and electronic properties from ...

Pressure-tuning of the electron-phonon coupling: the insulator to metal transition in manganites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
A comprehensive understanding of the physical origin of the unique magnetic and transport properties of A_(1-x)A'^xMnO_3 manganites (A = trivalent rare-earth and A' = divalent alkali-earth metal) is still far from being achieved.

Antiferromagnetic spin-coupling between MnII and amminium radical cation ligands: models for coordination polymer magnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
One and two electron oxidation of the manganese(II) complex [L2Mn(hfac)2] {L = 4'',4'''-di-tert-butyl-2',2'',2'''trimethoxy-{4-(4'-diphenylaminophenyl)pyridine} were studied by ultra violet/ visible/ near infra red spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and ...
