MINERAL FORMS OF PHOSPHORUS IN OOIDAL IRON ORES OF THE MARSYATY DEPOSIT (NORTHERN URALS) [PDF]
Horizons enriched in phosphorus are identified in ooidal ironstones underlying the oxidecarbonate manganese ores of the Marsyaty deposit (Northern Urals). The maximum P2O5 content reaches 6.37 wt. % in a quartz sandstone interbed with ooids consisting of

Sorption extraction of and radionuclides from aqueous solutions by MnO(OH) nanoparticles
In this study, nano-sized particles of manganese oxyhydroxide (MnO(OH)) are synthesized. Sorption properties of this material towards 90 Sr and 137 Cs radionuclides in the pH range from 2 to 9 at a temperature of 293.15 K solution are studied.

Iron and Manganese Biogeochemistry in Forested Coal Mine Spoil
Abandoned mine lands continue to serve as non-point sources of acid and metal contamination to water bodies long after mining operations have ended. Although soils formed from abandoned mine spoil can support forest vegetation, as observed throughout the

Many Middle Stone Age sites in South Africa yielded hundreds, even thousands, of ochre pieces sometimes showing use traces. Less attention has been paid to the tools used for their processing. Here, seven tools excavated from the oldest layers (71,000 to

Intrinsic Phonons as a Dynamic Control Knob for Catalytic Reactivity in 2D Materials
Intrinsic phonon excitations are demonstrated to serve as a dynamic control knob for catalytic reactivity in 2D materials. Mode‐selective lattice vibrations reconstruct the electronic structure, lower oxygen evolution reaction barriers, establishing a phonon‐engineering paradigm for dynamically regulating electrocatalysis beyond conventional static ...

Enhanced arsenic removal by biochar modified with nickel (Ni) and manganese (Mn) oxyhydroxides [PDF]
Abstract Two biochar composites were synthesized by either pyrolysis of Ni/Mn oxide-modified pinewood feedstock (NMMF) or precipitation of Ni/Mn-LDHs onto pristine biochars (NMMB). Both sorbents were characterized and results indicated that NiO and MnO were dominant crystals in NMMF, whereas Ni/Mn-LDHs in NMMB.
