Mangiferin as a potential inhibitor of transthyretin fibrillogenesis

Journal of Molecular Graphics and Modelling
By using in silico molecular docking, we predicted a high potential of mangiferin to inhibit transthyretin amyloidogenesis. Subsequently, we tested this prediction in an in vitro system. The study involved testing effect of mangiferrin in a system that included isolated and purified recombinant transthyretin under fibrillogenesis conditions and a ...

Radioprotection by mangiferin in DBAxC57BL mice: a preliminary study

Phytomedicine, 2005
The radioprotective effects of various concentrations (0, 0.25, 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 17.5, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg/kg b.wt.) of mangiferin (MGN) was studied in the DBAxC57BL mice whole body exposed to 10 Gy of gamma-irradiation. Treatment of mice with different doses of MGN, one hour before irradiation reduced the symptoms of radiation sickness and delayed ...

Structure elucidation of in vivo and in vitro metabolites of mangiferin

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2011
The in vivo and in vitro metabolism of mangiferin was systematically investigated. Urine, plasma, feces, contents of intestinal tract and various organs were collected after oral administration of mangiferin to healthy rats at a dose of 200mg/kg body weight. For comparison, mangiferin was also incubated in vitro with intestinal flora of rats.

Antioxidant activity of the polyphenol mangiferin

Electronic Journal of Environmental, Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2008
The antioxidant properties of alcohol solutions of mangiferin were studied. The antioxidant activity in linoleic acid/water emulsion system, determined by the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), was higher at 37 °C - 72.0 %, and by inhibiting conjugated dienes formation - 70.4 %.
