Global half-BPS AdS2 × S 6 solutions in Type IIB

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We investigate half-BPS Type IIB supergravity solutions with spacetime geometry AdS2 × S 6 warped over a Riemann surface Σ. The general local solution was obtained in earlier work in terms of two holomorphic functions A ± $$ {\mathcal{A}}_{\pm } $$ on Σ.

Holographic 6d co-dimension 2 defect solutions in M-theory

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We consider the uplift of co-dimension two defect solutions of seven dimensional gauged supergravity to eleven dimensions, previously found by two of the authors.

Spin characterization and control over the regime of radiation-induced zero-resistance states

open access: yes, 2004
Over the regime of the radiation-induced zero-resistance states and associated oscillatory magnetoresistance, we propose a low magnetic field analog of quantum-Hall-limit techniques for the electrical detection of electron spin- and nuclear magnetic ...

Effective Field Theory islands from perturbative and nonperturbative four-graviton amplitudes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Theoretical data obtained from physically sensible field and string theory models suggest that gravitational Effective Field Theories (EFTs) live on islands that are tiny compared to current general bounds determined from unitarity, causality, crossing ...

Radiation-induced zero-resistance states with resolved Landau levels

open access: yes, 2005
The microwave-photoexcited high mobility GaAs/AlGaAs two-dimensional electron system exhibits an oscillatory-magnetoresistance with vanishing resistance in the vicinity of magnetic fields $B = [4/(4j+1)] B_{f}$, where $B_{f} = 2\pi\textit{f}m^{*}/e$, m$^{

Additive Manufacture of Diamond:Titanium Hybrid Quantum Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Additive manufacture represents one of the most advanced techniques for the creation of complex parts for applications as diverse as aerospace and implant surgery. However, a challenge with bespoke manufacture of metal parts is the incorporation of sensor elements in a fashion compatible with the 3D printing process.

Late time Wilson lines

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
In the AdS3/CFT2 correspondence, physical interest attaches to understanding Virasoro conformal blocks at large central charge and in a kinematical regime of large Lorentzian time separation, t ∼ c.

Dental crown morphological variation and heterodonty in carcharhiniform sharks

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Elasmobranch teeth are highly mineralized structures that constitute the majority of the fossil record for this group. Despite their taxonomic and evolutionary significance, detailed descriptions of dental morphology remain scarce. The order Carcharhiniformes, the most diverse among sharks, comprises 304 valid species that display remarkable ...

Mass deformations of 5d SCFTs via holography

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
Using six-dimensional Euclidean F (4) gauged supergravity we construct a holographic renormalization group flow for a CFT on S 5. Numerical solutions to the BPS equations are obtained and the free energy of the theory on S 5 is determined holographically

Understanding exam access arrangements in practice: Challenges and opportunities

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Secondary students with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) often face challenges with academic tasks, particularly with high‐stakes examinations. Exam access arrangements (EAA) are provided as reasonable adjustments to reduce disadvantage for students with SpLD.
