One Health Genomic Analysis of Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus spp. From Humans, Cats, and Dogs in a Veterinary Hospital in Central Chile

ABSTRACT Introduction The emergence of methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus species (MRS) poses a growing threat to both human and veterinary health. Methods We performed a comparative genomic characterisation of 49 methicillin‐resistant Staphylococcus isolates collected from humans, dogs, and cats in a veterinary hospital from Central Chile.

Hyperglycaemia‐induced reactive oxygen species production in cardiac ventricular myocytes differs among mammals

Abstract figure legend In rat and human adult ventricular myocytes, acute hyperglyceaemia (Glucose) causes increased glucose uptake (via GLUT) leading to O‐GlcNAcylation of CaMKII at Ser280, such that CaMKII activates NADPH oxidase 2 (NOX2) to increase cytosolic reactive oxygen species (ROS). That perturbs the ROS to Antioxidant (AntiOx) balance.

Molecular Detection and Antibiotic Susceptibility Profiling of Mannheimia haemolytica Isolates From Pneumonic Pasteurellosis Suspected Cases of Sheep in Northwestern Ethiopia

This study in Northwestern Ethiopia analysed M. haemolytica in pneumonic sheep and identified 23 M. haemolytica isolates from 140 nasal swab samples. M. haemolytica isolates were sensitive to most drugs, including tetracycline, chloramphenicol, gentamicin, streptomycin, kanamycin and ampicillin.
