Vaccine‐Induced Anti‐IgE Antibodies Neutralize Free IgE but Fail to Bind and Activate Mast Cell‐Displayed IgE

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We investigated the mechanisms by which a previously established VLP‐based anti‐IgE vaccine protects against allergic anaphylaxis. We show that passively administered vaccine‐induced IgGs into allergic mice protects them from anaphylaxis without side effects.

High-Mannose Specific Lectin and Its Recombinants from a Carrageenophyta Kappaphycus alvarezii Represent a Potent Anti-HIV Activity Through High-Affinity Binding to the Viral Envelope Glycoprotein gp120

open access: yesMarine Biotechnology, 2015
We previously reported that a high-mannose binding lectin KAA-2 from the red alga Kappaphycus alvarezii, which is an economically important species and widely cultivated as a source of carrageenans, had a potent anti-influenza virus activity.

Role of the Mannose‐Binding Lectin in Innate Immunity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003
The ability to recognize infectious agents from self is intrinsic to innate immunity. One basic tenet of innate immunity is the evolution of classes of molecules that are termed "pattern-recognition" receptors and molecules. Many pattern-recognition molecules conspire together to protect the host in the first minutes and hours after exposure to an ...

Gastrointestinal Barrier Disruption in Post‐COVID Syndrome Fatigue Patients

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Gastrointestinal (GI) barrier disruption in the context of SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is associated with the development of Post‐COVID Syndrome (PCS) Fatigue. Pre‐existing GI complaints may predispose to fatigue development. Monitoring GI symptoms and markers before, during, and after SARS‐CoV‐2 infection is crucial for identifying predictive clinical ...

Synthesis and optimization of octavalent bolaamphiphile preparation with terminal D-mannose residues

open access: yesТонкие химические технологии, 2015
In this article a scheme was proposed, and the synthesis of octavalent bolaamphiphile with terminal D-mannose residues was carried out. The technique of the laboratory synthesis of this compound was improved using optimisation of the key step of the ...

The structure of human CD23 and its interactions with IgE and CD21 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The low-affinity immunoglobulin E (IgE) receptor, CD23 (FcɛRII), binds both IgE and CD21 and, through these interactions, regulates the synthesis of IgE, the antibody isotype that mediates the allergic response.

Monovalent glycoconjugates of sulforaphane prevent inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide in human dendritic cells by inhibiting NF‐ĸB signalling pathway

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Sulforaphane (SFN) has notable health benefits but faces challenges due to its poor solubility and delivery. This study investigates SFN‐glycoconjugates effects on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced inflammation in dendritic cells (DCs). With the aiming to enhance their therapeutic potential against inflammatory diseases.

Mannose-Binding Lectin Binds to Amyloid β Protein and Modulates Inflammation

open access: yesJournal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, 2012
Mannose-binding lectin (MBL), a soluble factor of the innate immune system, is a pattern recognition molecule with a number of known ligands, including viruses, bacteria, and molecules from abnormal self tissues.
