Tracking Health Related Quality of Life From Diagnosis to Follow‐Up Among Australian Children With Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) is one of the most treatable forms of paediatric cancer; however, there is a substantial burden of treatment‐related toxicities (TRTs). In addition, the long‐term changes in children's health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) due to toxic treatments are not well understood.

Phase Angle as an Early Functional Biomarker of Cancer‐Related Fatigue in Pediatric Oncology: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric cancer remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, particularly in low‐and middle‐income countries. Cancer treatment may impair nutritional status, alter body composition, and exacerbate cancer‐related fatigue (CRF).

A marker gene-based method for identifying the cell-type of origin from single-cell RNA sequencing data

open access: yesMethodsX, 2023
Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) experiments provide opportunities to peer into complex tissues at single-cell resolution. However, insightful biological interpretation of scRNA-seq data relies upon precise identification of cell types. The ability

The Role of Chemotherapy in Pediatric Myoepithelial Carcinoma: A Systematic Review of the Literature

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Myoepithelial carcinoma (MEC) in pediatric patients is a rare and aggressive malignancy characterized by heterogeneous morphology and variable molecular features. The optimal role of chemotherapy remains unclear. We conducted a systematic review according to PRISMA 2020 guidelines to evaluate chemotherapy in pediatric and young‐adult patients ...

Best Practices in Manual Annotation with the Gene Ontology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Gene Ontology (GO) is a framework designed to represent biological knowledge about gene products' biological roles and the cellular location in which they act. Biocuration is a complex process: the body of scientific literature is large and selection of appropriate GO terms can be challenging.

Manual curation is not sufficient for annotation of genomic databases [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2007
Abstract Motivation: Knowledge base construction has been an area of intense activity and great importance in the growth of computational biology. However, there is little or no history of work on the subject of evaluation of knowledge bases, either with respect to their contents or with respect to the processes by which they are ...

A Bibliometric Analysis of Publications in Uremic Toxins From 1991 to 2024

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Uremic toxins are a growing area of research in nephrology, with significant implications in the progression and treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and the management of end‐stage kidney disease (ESKD). This bibliometric analysis aims to evaluate the global research trends, key contributors, and the impact of publications in ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Combining Manual and Automatic Annotation of a Learner Corpus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present an approach to building a learner corpus of Czech, manually corrected and annotated with error tags using a complex grammar-based taxonomy of errors in spelling, morphology, morphosyntax, lexicon and style. This grammar-based annotation is supplemented by a formal classification of errors based on surface alternations.
