Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

An explicit bound on epsilon for nonemptiness of Epsilon-cores of games [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider parameterized collections of games without side payments and determine a bound on epsilon so that all suffciently large games in the collection have non-empty epsilon-cores. Our result makes explicit the relationship between the required size

ZW4864‐mediated inhibition of the β‐catenin/BCL9/BCL9L complex reveals therapeutic potential in bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,

Improvement and Quantification of Extraction Methods for Annual Bluegrass Weevil Larval Populations

open access: yesInsects
The annual bluegrass weevil (ABW), Listronotus maculicollis (Kirby), is a significant pest of short-mown turfgrass in eastern North America. Proper monitoring of this pest may reduce insecticide applications. We investigated the extraction rate and labor

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Compressive Behavior of Fibre Reinforced Honeycomb Cores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Honeycomb core sandwich panels have found extensive applications particularly in the aerospace and naval industries. In view of the recent interest in alternative, yet strong and lightweight materials, honeycomb cores are manufactured from sisal fiber ...
